As it's Keef's birthday, I decided to go shopping today. I would have purchased something for Keithy but being he's so damned secretive about his whereabouts, I wouldn't even know where to mail his birthday gift. So I decided to purchase a gift by proxy...for MYSELF! I went to this vintage store, and picked up a ton of albums for my ever-growing record collection. But that wasn't the best part...suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted it...a red silkly-satiny burgandy designer dress hanging on a rack. You know the kind - Looked vintage, but you knew it was new. It was like the angels were singing to me "aaahhhh!" So I nonchelantly walked over, looked at the tag. JUST AS I SUSPECTED - VERSACE!!! Off to the dressing room went my albums, the Versace, and me. I tried it on, and it fit as if Donatella made it for moi!!! It was friggin' perfect!!! Next problem. How much??? No price tag to be found. So I casually walked up to the saleslady. She fumbled through a bunch of papers and finally said "$49!!" Therefore, thanks to Keith, the lovely burgandy Versace is drapped from a pink satin hanger in my closet this very evening!!! Do I currently have anywhere to wear this remarkable work of art to? No! Do I care: No!!! So yes, many happy returns to you, Mr. Levene!!!!

Kathy, Looks like you now have a reason to go out dancing! BTW, I found this pic of Keith from way back with Paul & the Ramones. Couple of days late for his birthday . . . but doesn't he kind of look like a little kid who just walked up & got in the photo? Joan

Thanks for posting the piccy of Keith, who, yes, appears very very young here! As for the going out dancing recommendation, that's an excellent idea. Only problem is now I obviously need shoes and a bag to go with the purse. I'm going back and forth between black or silver or gold, but probably leaning toward black satin shoes and matching purse to go with the burgandy dress. What do you think? Of course, it's another reason (excuse?) for a shopping excursion this weekend, but we all need to do our part to keep the economy rolling along!!!

Kathy,
Well, black is always OK in my mind. Though, lately I've had a passion for silver shoes, so I might lean that way. However, you have to decide for yourself whether or not you want take fashion advice from an engineer. Always risky.

Joan Joan, thanks for the feedback - p.s. most of the engineers I know have magnificent taste in clothes, wine, music, etc.!

Do I care: No!!! So yes, many happy returns to you, Mr. Levene!!!! A postscript to the earlier post. Of course, once you purchase the perfect dress, you obviously need to ACCESSORIZE. Thanks to Joan's input, I have now purchased the perfect satin high heel strappy sandals to go with Keith's birthday present to myself, the Versace dress. Then this past week, I found a little black satin evening bag to go with it, and black flowers for the hair. Obviously, now I will need to go and get a haircut, a facial, mani and pedi (you know, like the Fixx once said "One thing leads to another!!!!" ) But you guys, listen to what I have just added, the Pièce de résistance: long black satin gloves up to the elbow! Again, the question has to be asked: Now that the outfit is Fait Accompli, WHERE THE HELL AM I GOING TO WEAR IT TO??? We went out last night to a Florida Marlins baseball game. But it would have been a bit much to wear the Versace there, while I munched on my coke and peanuts, right? Unfortunately, the only other upcoming event on my social calendar, is a barbeque on the beach - but black gloves, and BBQ hot dogs? Naah! Oh dear, this poses quite the dilemma - and I'm sorry, but Keith, this may be all your fault, LMAO!!!!

However, I think your hubby is going to have to cover for him. Afterall, he wouldn't want Keith to take you out in that dress & sexy sandals & gloves - poor Keith would get the wrong idea! ;D So, "Mr. Kathy" is just going to have to take you out on the town to show off how lucky he is. Want me to talk to him? [You really should post a picture - inquiring minds & all!] Joan
