Regarding password protecting the fan fiction section: It might be a good idea to do so. Why? Because: 1.) as flattering as we think it is to John, he might not agree and his management might consider it defamation of character; and 2.) anyone can steal anything and post it into any number of music fan fiction sites. As a fan fiction writer for many years, I know for a fact that there have been writers sued after posting content to the internet by management companies (specifically regarding writing based on Anne Rice or Stephen King) Not to say that John would do this, but you never know what he might think or what his management might think. I had never thought of that........and I should have........I think we DO need to protect it.......... I think it would be best, just strictly to protect the board and board members who post there. |

Just to add to Snoogs post:
1.) If you are a new member and you just want to steal our pictures, find another board. Please.
2.) If you are a new member and you want to get into the pictures board the easy way, and just ask for the password without every having to post, you are incredibly selfish.
3.) If you don't want to participate, don't join the board. Period.
4.) If you are the member who gave out the password, just know that we will find out who you are.
5.) One reason the pictures board is password protected is because of all the copyrighted images. I hope everyone realizes that people who steal pictures from places like Corbis can be prosecuted. And that is why the picture board is protected - or at least one reason, albeit, a BIG reason.
6.) I would suggest to Snoogs that if we find any members who are passing out the password and/or members who had received/asked for the password from other members without every posting, that they be permabanned.
It's really sad that it's had to come to this. I consider this board something very free, something unique. It's really sad that it's come to a point where we have to protect ourselves from people stealing and/or trying to exploit us.
If you just want this board for it's pictures, then don't bother. Why? Because you can find them yourselves on a variety of websites.
I am here to be part of a community. I am not here to play babysitter to people who want the easy way out. You want pictures without community then steal the pictures from Corbis yourself.

Well said Mish.....  ......I have a paid account on some photo sites so that I can get the pictures without watermarks and I could DEFINITELY be in some deep poo if that was discovered by the wrong powers that be  |

I AM a Johnny fan and I have enjoyed lurking on this board. I haven't posted mostly because I've not been sure what I have to contribute and you all seemed like a pretty tight group, so I wasn't sure if I'd fit in. I see now that you all really do want to actively include others so I'll try to dive in somewhere.
I'll admit I've been away for a wee while as I got distracted by a fairly rabid Joe Strummer obsession, but I thought of John today out of the blue and decided I'd check in. I came across a fan fic that I had started about him and had never finished (blame this on Joe too). Perhaps I'll try to do so and share it. Seeing pics of him always inspires me and I was disappointed to find that thread password protected. Please share? I'll try to contribute where I can.

I haven't really been active(yet) due to how slow my computer has been for the past couple of months... and when I say slow, I mean SLOOOW. ) when I got online tonight from someone whose name I did not recognize telling me in what appeared to be broken English that they loved our pictures. I asked what the user name they have on our board is and they wouldn't send it to me if they even understood the question, but they DID type our former password for me along with a little smiley face. I guess they figure if we change it they will get it again........what is the POINT, why not just post and get it sent to you the fun way, why refuse to post and get someone who does post to give it to you? I just don't get it...... 
All we are asking people to do to get it is to post.. 
...can't be that difficult
