Last Saturday me and my friend traveled down to Manchester from Scotland to see the Sex Pistols..It was a 4 hour journey well worth making!!

We arrived in Manchester about 4pm..booked into the hotel and made our way up to the City Centre as Scotland were playing Italy at Football and the game was live in a pub near the MEN Arena.
The football did not go our way but we still had a great time having a few beers and getting ready for the Sex Pistols show!!

We made our way up to the Venue to meet up with Craig a guy I got talking to on the sex pistols forum..he was looking for a spare ticket I had one and let it go for 15 pounds..

That was us ready to hit the Arena.Must say just caught the end of The Thirst and they were ok....Next was the DJ...played some cool tunes..Rage against the Machine,Nirvana,Chemical Brothers etc..I was getting a bit hyped by this time...
I looked around and could not believe the crowd that had turned up...it was full ..19,000 ...it was an awesome sight.
I was fully expecting to be entertained and enjoy the Sex Pistols..but what followed surpassed all my expectations...

From the intro..into the blistering Pretty Vacant..there was no let up..I was quite near the front and a few times there was pile ups of people...luckily enough no one was hurt..I must admit I was like a big kid seeing John and the lads going about their business..the hairs were standing up on the back of my neck!!
Singalong in the crowd...Johns quips..Steve playing like a man possesed and Glen n Paul holding all together...I was in heaven!!
I am lucky enough to have the bootleg audio from this gig..and it is every bit as good as I though at the time..

Highlights for me were Pretty Vacant...Liar..Problems and No Fun..every song was great,but these raised the bar a little bit more...

As the gig went on..I got closer and closer to the stage..by the end I was against the railings and still have the bruises to show!!

The show finished rather strangely though...no good byes..just the encore and that was it..away back to the Hotel and still buzzing from an excellent evening in Manchester...
The plus point being we were going to see them do it all again 24 hours later in Glasgow....

Well...it was back up to Scotland on the Sunday and to be honest travelling up I thought if the gig in Glasgow was even half as good I would go home happy after an entertaining weekend.

We arrived back in Glasgow about 4.30...so we had loads of time to kill!!...About 6.30 we entered the venue and the place which had a 6000 capacity was filling up pretty quickly.
7.30 The support group Scotlands own The Hedrons came on and played a blistering set.Full of lively up beat tunes this all female band got the place jumping.John picked this band himself and I can honestly say what I have seen or heard from the other supports on this tour The Hedrons were the best so far!!
The band went off to a great ovation and the crowd buzzed with anticipation for the Sex Pistols to come...during this time Goldie starting playing some tunes on his decks...at first the crowd were oblivious to this and everyone just went about doing their own thing..however the crowd soon realised that the DJ was part of the support and a shower of beer..coins and other items were getting thrown at him.Goldie was thriving on this and was playing up to the crowd..the atmosphere at this point grew more and more volatile and I laughed as I looked around me seeing peopel getting more and more wound up by the drum n bass from the DJ...Small scuffles were breaking out in the crowd and thousands of people were chanting [like a football crowd] insults to Goldie..me I thought this added to the tension and I was enjoying it although feeling rather uneasy about what was going to happen next..
I should have known...The DJ left..slight break and on came the Pistols..

I still get goosebumps when I watch this...the place erupted..all the waiting..the tension..the fights...it all came together when John and the boys came on and played a fantastic show..The crowds reaction and mosh pit was far more intense compared to the night before.Maybe Manchester was a more polished performance...Glasgow was exactly how I would imagine the pistols shows were back in the day ..energy..excitement and absolute chaos!!

3 songs in and it felt like I had run a marathon....

There is plenty footage from Glasgow that captures the gig better than any written word can IMO...Highlights again PV,Liar,No Fun..

John was excellent as was the band...

I hope this is not the last time I see them ...Loved my weekend...love this band!!

Thank you SO much for posting the review Noir! AND of course for the videos It looks like Johnny and the boys were in EXCELLENT form and I am so happy they got to end this little mini tour with such an enthusiastic audience, exactly as it should be
