I watched Sid & Nancy for the first time in years last week. I always felt Gary looked too old to play Sid even though he did a good job of showing Sid's deterioration. I also thought Chloe really didn't resemble Nancy all that much. But then I saw this photo of Nancy where she's looking down at her clothes - the one where she's on the couch sitting between Glen and Sid. She looks exactly like Chloe Webb in that one. Exactly. As for her fingernails scratching the chalkboard voice, if you listen to the real Nancy talk, I think Chloe captured the essence of it. Have you seen that black and white cable TV interview show with Nancy, Sid, and Stiv that's on YouTube where Nancy goes in and out of her fake British accent? Might have been entertaining if Chloe gave us a little of that in the movie! Speaking of that cable show, it's amazing to think it was taped just a few weeks before Nancy's murder. Sid seems so subdued towards her - hard to believe he would stab her to death. Speaking of which, the anniversary of Nancy's death is coming up in a couple days. Earlier this week I had this crazy nightmare I was in NYC staying in room 100 at the Chelsea (never mind the complete room doesn't exist anymore and the building creeps me out so much I'd never stay there in real life, much less in THAT room!). In this nightmare, I'm in bed, staring at the door to the bathroom, sweating. Suddenly, I sat straight up in the darkness, and hauled out of there. Man, I must have too much Sid & Nancy on the brain these days! I agree that those two actors portrayed their characters very well for what they had to work with........the movie is just so not accurate to most events in real life..... I don't think Sid stabbed Nancy in a rage or anything. In my opinion it sounded like they had both been drugged and neither of them really had much of a clue what had happened. They apparently went to bed after the stabbing where most of her bleeding took place. I don't think Sid ever remembered what happened. Good Lord, it will soon be 29 years ago.......JESUS I did see that video you speak of....from what her mother said later, Nancy adopted the accent of any boy she dated --or attempted to (she once developed a Southern accent when dating a boy from that region)

You know? Like they were both in the bathroom or bedroom, he was holding the knife and he just fell into her and was too stoned to realize what was going on. Then he passed out, woke up, and found her. :[ (side note: we need a sad smilie face... i would insert one here, but there is no small, polite sad face) Just thought I'd add that as I'd thought of it the other day.

Well it could have happened that way. God knows Sid didn't remember. However, I really think the scenario Nancy's Mom imagined is probably closer to what actually happened. Sid and Nancy did fight violently, that is documented in many books including John's. I think she probably goaded him into it, he did it while majorly fucked up, and had no clue (well neither of them did) what had actually happened until in her case it was too late and in Sid's case the cops came.

It is true that it's so hard to believe 29 years have passed since Nancy's death. Your theory seems more plausible than thinking he just attacked her for the sake of attacking her. From all accounts, including Neon Leon's the guy who was with them hours before her death, Sid loved Nancy to the end. I guess we'll never know the reason, including whether they really did have a suicide pact. There is a lot of mystery about Sid. Did he intend to kill himself or not when he took the fatal dose of heroin? Having gotten out of Riker's hours earlier, did he take the heroin because he just couldn't face any possibility of a long prison sentence? Where is his true final resting place? On and on. I don't think they had an organized suicide pack.....I think it was more just "if you die I will die" type thing. Nancy probably took that a bit more seriously than Sid. It was recently revealed that the fatal dose of heroin Sid took was administered by his Mom...the woman who got him into drugs to begin with. Her motives are unclear but it is generally believed she thought Sid really did have no future. Although for years John seemed to believe the rumor that Sid's ashes were dropped at Heathrow Airport, Sid's ashes were in fact spread on Nancy's grave by Sid's mother against the wishes of Nancy's parents and unknown to them at the time. Sad story all around, nothing glamorous about dying young.........

I don't believe that Sid's mother scattered his ashes over Nancy's grave. She said she did, but his mother was also an attention seeker. I don't think it's true that they fell all over Heathrow either. I don't know what happened to them, but I don't believe they ended up on Nancy's grave. I have trouble believing much of what Sid's mother says...considering she herself was a heroin addict at the time. I really wish someone else had been in charge of taking care of Sid after his death, but unfortunately, his mother was put in charge and she was infamous for being irresponsible. While I don't think she was dumb enought to drop them in Heathrow (they have strict rules about transporting human remains, let me make that very clear), I don't believe she scattered them over Nancy's grave. I can't explain to you why. I just have trouble believing that.

I don't have trouble believing it. It was witnessed by a couple of other people that were with her, and she was kind of obsessed with doing it (had even asked Nancy's parents permission which they refused). However, having said that, no one can be 100% sure those people that made the statement of witness were telling the truth or not. It doesn't really matter that much (kinda reminds me of the group The Doors and how this same type debate continues with Jim and Pam and whether or not she is buried with him), Sid will never know or care where they are and remains just as dead. Very sad.

I think Philadelphia is Sid and Nancy's final resting place. Sid said he wanted to be buried with his baby. Mrs. Spungeon wrote Mrs. Beverely asked for permission to bury Sid with Nancy. Understandably, Nancy's mom said no to that request.
The co-editor of Punk Magazine and writer of Please Kill Me, Legs McNeil, was one of the people who has stated for years he drove with Mrs. B. from NYC to Philly, and witnessed her going over the cemetary fence to ensure that Sid's final wish was adhered to. That's the account I tend to believe.
