Things I admire about John....

He took good care of his little brothers when his mama was sick & he was/IS a mama's boy. That's pretty admirable.

I can now add that I admire the way he handles his role as judge on this Bodog thing. No matter how bad or uninteresting the bands are, or even if a member has been rude to him, John still gives an honest and fair listen to the song presented to him. He really tries to listen to what the band is trying to get across and gives points for showmanship as well. As always John is honest and well spoken. He gives these bands advice, and I can well imagine the honor that would be, advice from HIM. He is the only judge with a personality that shines through. I am enjoying his opinions as well as learning from them, and laughing with the many quips he makes as well. The man makes me so proud to be his fan

John is so fascinating to me for the following reasons:
1. He's so intelligent! The man is brilliant!
2. He says what's on his mind, and means it!
3. He doesn't care what people, especially the media, thinks about him.
4. He's very sarcastic in a cool way.
5. He's very funny!
6. He's very honest about the things he says.
7. He is extremely talented!
8. He has a great appreciation for life.

That's why I admire him.

I have to agree with all of these. I also appreciate his focus on family and how important that is.

I was just listening to an interview with him from the late 80's where the interviewer mentioned an area in New York where the people were mainly concerned with raising their children, etc. And, John's response, was basically, "yes - the important things."

So, while he is obviously very involved in the "entertainment industry", he understands what is really important - family, friends, real life. That makes him so much more of a real person to me. And that is much more interesting than who is seen at what "in" club, etc. In "old" language, John isn't concerned with "being cool", he just "is cool". God bless him.

I admire his ability to speak his mind no matter the circumstance, I admire that he CAN find the words he needs to express himself (I am usually left hours later going "DAMN I wish I had thought to say THAT then" ), I admire his conviction to what he believes, I admire his strength of character, I admire his loyalty, I admire his tender heart, I admire his artistic talent, I admire his wonderful sense of humor, and I admire his intelligence.

Basically I just admire everything about the man, he is very special, a jewel.

Joan, I completely agree. There was an article I read where he talked about how committed he was to Nora and how he didn't take things like commitment lightly. I thought that was so touching and beautiful!!!

Yes, you are right on. Being cool isn't cool when one has to "try". Coolness is what a person embodies! And that's what makes John so cool. Just like all these bands try to be "punk", John is (and was) Punk! That's why people ask him about punk and he sort of downplays it, because to him, it wasn't about the image, it was about being real. That's why I love our John!

I admire the way he talks, in fact I love the way he talks, the words he chooses, his intelligence, sense of humor, this attitude of "I don´t give a shit you think"... And HIM, because he´s so original, honest and talented
