Today, somebody brought up the name of the band "The Sweet" -a British glam rock band from back in the day. Here's one of their biggest hits:

And now, a true story about yours truly and The Sweet:

When I was 14 I worked a few hours each weekend as a bus girl at a hotel near a venue where a lot of bands would perform. An "older" (18-19 y/o ) neighbor worked as a waitress, and she was kind enough to shuffle me back and forth to work.

One night as we were leaving the hotel, she recognized one of the guys from the Sweet in the lobby. We got to talking to him (I remember thinking he had a cool British accent and all).

Anywho, he asked if we'd like to go up to his room "to watch some television." My neighbor said "No thank, you!!" >: (Grabbed my arm, and off we went.

I asked her, now why were you so mean to him, he seemed like a nice enough guy, and I heard they had free movies up in the rooms (I was very naive, and quite literally thought he was asking us up to watch telly only!!)

That's the first, last and only time a "famous" rock star ever tried to pick me up!!!!

This is great, S4J - and check out the people in the audience with the hats that look like they were out of aluminum foil!!! I love it!!!

I'm not sure which member of the band we met. I really didn't know them, the girl I was with recognized him. It definitely wasn't the singer, because I remember he had long dark hair, not blonde. Might have been one of the guitar players....

I went to watch the Florida Marlins beat the Colorado Rockies last night . After the baseball game, the Bangles gave a concert on the field. Well, it was 3/4 of them, Michael the bass player has apparently retired from the band. But were they great - sounded as good as they did on their records!

They did all their hits, Manic Monday, Eternal Flame, If She Knew What She Wants. The last song (of course) was Walk Like an Egyptian - in the middle of it they went into Mrs. Robinson from the Graduate , which believe it or not sounded cool.

But, my personal favorite was the opener, from the Less than Zero soundtrack (was Robert Downey Jr great in that or what???
