I know that some of you were lucky enough to be able to attend the PiL concerts in December. Since I couldn't be there, I ordered the CD recording of the Dec. 15th Birmingham Academy show from Concert Live CDs. We were out of town over the holidays, and when I got back home this week, there was a nice Christmas present - 3 audio CDs of the concert (including encore) and 1 CD with extras (photos & video with John talking about the tour.) I have been listening to the audio CDs on my way to & from work this week. The CDs are great! The sound quality is very good & I have really enjoyed the band - not the same as the original versions, but that's OK. And, John's voice is fantastic. He sounds like he was really enjoying the concert. Has anyone else bought the concert CDs? Are the other dates as good as, or better than, Birmingham? I picked it only because it was the first date. Though maybe by Brixton they were more together? I'm curious to know if anyone thinks any one of the dates was "the best" or are they all equal. Maybe I'm showing my age, but I'm very impressed that Concert Live is able to record the concert & have the CDs burned & ready to pick up at the show. Seems like you get a very good quality recording without any over-production of the sound. My only regret is that it isn't a video - I would have loved to have seen John's expressions & body language. He is such a visual performer that I know I'm missing a lot with just the audio. Still, enjoying what I do have. Joan

Joan, Are you a member of the God Save the Sex Pistols forum? They had an extensive thread on those CDs the other day. (Actually, you don't need to be a member to read it--the URL is ccgi.sex-pistols.net/board/. I believe the thread was on the PiL board.)

I don't frequent many forums - if I feel the need to talk John, Pistols or PiL I just come here. Joan

We here at P&V really appreciate that loyalty as our numbers have gone down in the last many months I know this piggybacks off another thread, but why is that so? I would think numbers would go up after the recent and upcoming tours. As for the reason being lack of up-to-the-minute news--there are two official sites for that, and you can even sign up for email updates. (Of which I wish there'd be more, of course--a lot of spring tours are already being announced.) Maybe it's partly a search engine issue? Not that I know much about how those work... I find this to be a friendly and noncompetitive board, which is why I've stuck around.

Noir, Thanks - good to see the video, especially for those of us who didn't make it to any of the shows. We will have to see if they actually decide to do some shows in the states. Although, even if they would come close to Pittsburgh, I doubt that I would be able to convince Bob (my significant other) to go with me. He isn't such a fan. Anyway, I'm happy to see John looking & sounding so good. Joan

I like this board because, in general, people don't seem to be as aggressive and confrontational with one another as I have picked up on some of the other forums. You can just communicate with everyone without putting on any artificial attitude. To be honest, I don't even really remember how I found this board. But, I don't think it needs to "report", up to date news, since as you say, there are official boards that handle that. Getting others opinions, etc. about that news is interesting, though, and hopefully enough people will frequent here to keep that going on. Joan

I got the Brixton CD set, and have been playing it quite a bit. It's a lovely package too, but I haven't checked out the fourth disc yet. These shows were amazing and really captures PiL riding the crest of a wave.
And just think, the band will be overseas sometime soon.

I'm attempting to find a place to stay near Indio as we speak to see them in CA! If enough people are willing, I might be able to split the cost of a hotel room between a few people. ..And I'm gay, so don't think I'm a total creeper.
