Good reviews so far from Tuesday night. Unlike last December, when I'd start my day with the latest tour upload, I'm not watching any youtube footage...I'm waiting for the live version come May!
Anyone from the L.A. area who went?

I'll have something after next Wednesday! But surely I can't be the only one here with a ticket?? How about you, Liz?

Will be seeing John & PiL on May 14th. I don't care that the venue isn't be the best - I'm just happy that he is coming to Pittsburgh.

HI everyone, I am rather new here and I've never posted until now. I did see PiL on BOTH May 4th and May 5th at the Royale in Boston, MA USA. The shows were magnificent and I was about 7 feet away the first night (May 4th)(I was standing in the "second row" so to speak, as this was a general admission show) and on the second night (May 5th) I was about 4.5 feet away!! I was standing as close to the stage as one could. I was truly so fortunate to be able to go to one show, let alone both and to be SO close, especially on the second night. My favorites from both shows were "Death Disco", "Flowers Of Romance", "Religion", "Sun" and most importantly, "Chant"---that one was out of this world!! I only had a camera phone (I presently don't own a camera of any other sort) and I did get photos, but, considering how close I was, the photos this camera produced do John, the band and the performance NO justice whatsoever. I am still thrilled to have them, though, as I know that I was actually there and took them!! The band is superbly tight and John is so vibrant. I am thrilled my boyfriend kept coaxing me to go to the second show (as I was a bit nervous to do so with our unfortunate financial situation). he kept telling me that I may never get the chance again, God forbid, and that the Pistols may never reunite and do a tour again, (GOD FORBID....I certainly hope they do!!!!) so I should grab the opportunity and I am thrilled I did. He is not a fan of (nor does he dislike) The Pistols/PiL/John, but he knows how much they mean to me (I named our cat Johnny...and the cat is also an Aquarius!!), he paid for both tickets (which, by the way, were rather reasonably priced!!). I would love to share the photos (despite their lackluster nature), but, at this present time I honestly don't know how. The only downside to the first show was some moron throwing a cup at the stage, and then later spitting at John, whom John (not surprisingly) UTTERLY destroyed verbally. I was about 3.5 feet from this moron when he did it. A gentleman who was there with his wife CLOCKED the spitting imbecile in the face, and when he tried to retaliate other men nearby grabbed hold of him and shoved him off toward security and he was quickly removed. As he was being led off, John said "Bye bye altar boy!!" or something to that effect. This whole spitting incident occurred during "Religion", which John started off by saying, something like "I wrote this song over 30 years ago and nothing has changed. You people in the Boston area should know this first hand, don't you? Having to hide yourself or your children from the PRIESTS!"...shortly afterward this fool decided to start spitting. On the second night, during the last song, "Open Up" some drunken idiot shoved himself next to me and kept trying to shove his hand down his own throat (really demented) and then became bored with this and pulled a dollar bill out of his pocket along with a lighter and was starting to light the bill on fire and throw it. I moved and immediately got security's attention and it was stopped. This overall ruined the end of the show for me. The fact remains, though, that I was there, for BOTH nights and was able to be front and ALMOST center until the last 3 or 4 minutes on the second night. The shows were truly beautiful, just electrifying. However, promotion for them was essentially non existent and John was not pleased with the turn out, primarily on the show on the 4th, but, was thrilled that those of us that did show were there and let us know! The show was still great! He even comments about it on piloficial.com and johnlydon.com: www.pilofficial.com/showsreports.html and www.johnlydon.com/jltalk.html#bostonSomeone also posted a video on youtube from the show on the 4th: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvzEiSIc40EThis is "This Is Not A Love Song" and it is the song they opened the show with. They missed the first few moments when John said something like ""We're Public Image Limited and I'd like to apologize on behalf of all the other cunts in Boston who seem to feel they're too good to fucking show up tonight!! Who cares, you're here and we thank you for it so fuck them, we're going to have FUN!!"..please bear in mind this is not entirely verbatim, but pretty close to what he said. Take good care everyone and I will post the pictures if I can figure out how!!! Also, to anyone going or thinking of going, you will have a magnificent time!! =) ~Nicole

nma, what a great first post, I very much enjoyed reading it! And I can't wait to see the photos! You were very lucky to see the show up close. I do wish the shows were promoted more... no show I've ever been to has measured up to PIL and it's sad to hear the turn up was not so great. anarchytect, the trip will be WELL worth it! Will be looking forward to your review! Mrs. S. K. Forrester, I'm so sad you won't have the chance to see them this time around. lizardcat and Joan, I will be looking forward to reading your reviews as well!

Nicole, thanks for this post. I'm from Boston originally and saw my first two PiL shows there in '82 and '83. They were always a huge draw in Boston (and a heavy influence on local bands), so I hoped that both of these shows would sell out. Overall, I think the promotion for this tour has been miserable. The club at which I'm seeing PiL hasn't highlighted the show on their webpage or anything, and it's not sold out. (I do feel the tix are overpriced, but in my clubgoing days, prices were in the single digits, so...) A friend tells me that some shows on the U.S. have been moved to smaller venues because of slow sales.
All I can say is: as you mentioned, you never know when you'll have the chance to see Lydon again, especially with a great group of musicians. He is truly a music legend and never fails to put on a show you won't forget.

I loved seeing John up close with the Pistols but I honestly can't imagine what it must have been like to watch him perform the PiL songs that close. I have always loved PiL more maybe because they were the first of John's ventures I got heavily into. Religion is one of my very favorite songs and I would have loved to have seen that one above all I believe. I am sorry that the dumbass tried to ruin it but I am very VERY happy to hear that John and the real fans dispatched of him in a most apt manner I don't know how to upload those kind of pictures either but I would very much love to see them if and when you do get them up. GREAT review, and I am so glad you were able to go both nights!

Mrs. S. K. Forrester, I'm so sad you won't have the chance to see them this time around. Yes, so am I, but unfortunately money has gotten in the way big time this year and last . I hope that changes and I will eventually get the opportunity, but if not at least I can read about it all here
