John Lydon's stepdaughter Arianna Foster/Ari Up of the Slis passed away on October 20th after a serious illness. I send my condolences to John, Nora and family. I didn't even know she was ill, how sad:( What kind of illness?! Everyone is dying these days, so many famous persons....these are bad times!=/ R.I.P.

I didn't even know she was ill either, they probably kept it private. And we didn't know that Malcolm McLaren was ill until he died... It's so shocking when you first find out. On John's website it just said that she died of a 'serious illness'. But now I've heard that she died after a long battle with cancer. So, now one more Punk icon has left us. It's so sad. Yeah I guess they didn't want the whole world to know about the disease, it was better to let her die in peace. Cancer's been fatal too many great artists lately!=/

I heard that she died to lymphatic cancer... not sure.

I was shocked by this... whilst I was kind of ambivalent towards Ari and the Slits, of course this is a horrible tragedy. I can't imagine how painful it must be for Nora especially: after losing two babies with John, finding out you can't have any more children, and then finally outliving your only daughter. Plus it can't be easy now having the task of looking after Ari's kids whilst you yourself are in mourning. I'm not sure how old her younger son is but that must be so tough. I've never heard of Ari or Nora having any other close family, so she and John must be under such pressure.  |
