According to the usual sources, John will be at the NME awards tonight, as the scrapbook is being nominated. Hopefully this should mean plenty of new interviews/pictures! Wonder if he'll bring Nora (and Rambo)? Would be nice to see some genuinely new photos (scrapbook ones aside though, of course!) I'd be surprised if it wins anything, I have no idea how they decide or what it's up against, but I think it's probably too expensive and not well-known enough... Edit: Getty has a few photos up of John and Nora already, hopefully there'll be more to come... ...and now there's more. I swear these are THE most gorgeous photos of John and Nora I have EVER seen. They are so sweet and Nora looks stunning

I know, couldn't believe it! Obviously most of the people who voted for him were doing so cause of him, not the book- if enough people voted for him to win, they can't all have bought the book! Did you see the backstage video interview with him? I found it really sad and kind of uncomfortable to watch, he's clearly not his usual self- seems like Ari's death has hit him (and presumably Nora) really hard. Of course I'm sure the shock of winning probably played a part but he's clearly still very affected by it, he probably felt a bit out of place and uncomfortable. It was really very sad to watch

They look so in love after all these years..

I know, he seems so vulnerable, he's definitely not himself there and yes, those photos are so lovely and sweet, they look so comfortable and happy together, and after such a long time! I thought their outfits were pretty tame, haha! To be honest I think that's why Nora looks so great in those pics, she's wearing something slightly less crazy than usual... awesome shoes too, don't know if you saw those

Well John has never professed to being anything other than human. I thought he was quite dignified when he came close to tears backstage at the NME awards. I like being one step closer to a person's inner soul and for thirty seconds we got inside John 100%. It was nice to see. Saying that, he was making a ton of 'Rotten' comments before and after the show. My favourite being: Press: John do you think awards shows are important? John: If you keep talking to me and not the arseholes back there then yes.

If there's one thing that drives me *insane* about the press's treatment of John, it's the assumption that just cause he built his career on being obnoxious and outrageous, that he's somehow immune to love, emotion etc. In some interviews it's more obvious than others, but so many take this incredulous tone when they ask him about Nora, his family and childhood, as though he's not allowed to be happy and have a normal domestic life I'm sure he gets tired of having to say the same things over again about stuff like that... when will journalists learn? (although I love to hear him talk about that stuff - and as per my other posts I am fascinated by the private-ness of his private life, especially Nora - so maybe I'm part of the problem )

Were you lucky enough to be there? If so, did you meet The Man? Haha, I wish. There's some additional backstage footage from the awards on YouTube.

saw it! Did you hear/read that he was only told he'd won the book backstage? I thought it was weird that there was no video of him accepting the award. That seems a bit of a devious move by those in charge... I couldn't believe that they told him not to talk about 'other things' when he was presenting that award, I'm glad he apparently said something about Ari I see you're in the UK- are you going to watch the footage on Channel 4 tonight, it's implied that John will be on it. I'm hoping they'll put it online soon after.

I couldn't believe that they told him not to talk about 'other things' when he was presenting that award I know, it's desperately pathetic. Why are they so afraid of John? The man speaks only the truth. What's it gonna be in twenty years when he accepts his lifetime achievement award in an electric wheelchair/zimmer frame. Are they gonna try it on then? I see you're in the UK- are you going to watch the footage on Channel 4 tonight, it's implied that John will be on it. Yep. Twenty minutes into it so far and god, how dull and uninspired is music nowadays? All the bands that are up for awards hit their peaks years ago. Dave Grohl gets the 'Godlike Genius' award? I mean he was great in Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age (Foo Fighters had a couple of good albums but are a tad too emo-ey and commercial for my taste) but I think his award is a little too much. Erm, John Lydon is in attendance for fucks sake, why not him? Erm, Roger Daltrey was sitting next to Grohl in the audience, why not him? What gives?

Yeah, god, don't get me started on mainstream ignorance/misrepresentation of John... Was John on it (much)? If he was did they show anything other than the interview that's already on the NME's website? Asking in case they don't put this up online

John received approximately 0 minutes and 0 seconds of coverage. It was all blowing smoke up Dave Grohl's crack. Saying that, the Foo Fighters new song 'Rope' sounds pretty good (their best in years IMO), but alas no John footage whatsoever.

Ugh. Well, I guess that was the obvious outcome from their treatment of him, telling him not to talk off topic and failing to properly celebrate his award... Seriously though, how shitty is that, that he wasn't even given his award properly? When I was looking the the pics of him and Nora I was thinking how weird it was that he wasn't holding any trophy or anything, and I couldn't believe it how they just casually told him backstage that he'd won... what did they do with the others who were nominated, go round each of them and tell them they'd lost? For fuck's sake...

He is probably happy though, but I understand that he must be very annoyed since they told him that and obviously Ari's death is still very hard on him.

I saw that backstage footage as well, it was sad!:/ Obviously they haven't got over it yet! It's really stupid how they treat him...! If I ever get a job on TV I'm so gonna make sure he gets the treatment he really deserves!
