OK - the recent appearance of John's Guitar Hero III press conference video on YouTube reminded me of question that's been bothering me.
John said that Virgin had "mis-placed" the original multi-track masters for 'Anarchy in the UK' & 'Pretty Vacant' so John, Paul & Steve had to re-record the tracks for the game. How does this relate to the fact that Virgin just re-released the tracks on vinyl?
I realize that I know basically nothing about the recording industry & the production of records, but it seems that if Virgin could press the new vinyl, they must have had something. Does it have something to do with the "quality" or type of audio required for the video game platform?
[Not that I'm complaining, seems like getting together for the new recordings may have instigated the interest in playing together again & that's a good thing.]

[Not that I'm complaining, seems like getting together for the new recordings may have instigated the interest in playing together again & that's a good thing.] Joan You know I hadn't thought of that How DID that happen if they lost the masters....... So let's see ---NMTB has been released almost continuously since '77 - first on vinyl, then cassette, then CD, and now vinyl again. Maybe they didn't need the original masters to keep duplicating the music on these formats. With the video game, maybe a different method is needed to capture the sound than in the music industry. I don't know anything about the music business and how these things are done - just trying to imagine some scenario that doesn't involve John fibbing!!! Anyway, let's change the topic from the economics of the music industry to something much much, much more important: that being the matter of the ever-evolving hairstyles of a particular person throughout the years. The discussion has been started with a myriad of photos over the last coupla days on he general pictures board for your viewing pleasure and consideration. Join us, won't you?
