Sir Cliff Richard Supports Sex Pistols Star's Knighthood Dream

Sex Pistols star Steve Jones has an unlikely ally in his far-fetched goal of becoming a knight - Sir Cliff Richard. The guitarist is convinced the Queen of England will never hand out a title to a punk, let alone one who poked fun at her in the anthem God Save The Queen.

But Richard, who appeared on the rocker's Jonesy's Jukebox radio show in Los Angeles earlier this week , thinks Jones would make a good English ambassador. He told Jones, "It wouldn't surprise me at all if you got a knighthood. I'll have a word with Her Majesty when I get back (to England)."

SIR CLIFF RICHARD, LOST star NAVEEN ANDREWS and ex-SEX PISTOL STEVE JONES formed the oddest trio in history yesterday (21May07) when the three Brits performed on the rocker's Los Angeles radio show.
Jones, an unlikely but longtime fan of Richard, invited the Devil Woman singer on his Jonesy's Jukebox show on California's Indie 103.1 - and impressed the famous Christian singer with his knowledge of Richard's early tunes.
Actor Andrews, who has become a close friend of Jones' ever since the rocker-turned-DJ helped him battle alcoholism, joined the odd couple in the studio to jam on a handful of rock 'n' roll favourites.
The trio joined forces to perform Richard's Don't Talk To Him and then provided back up as the singer played a live version of his old-time classic Move It.
Richard joked, "You guys know these songs better than I do." During a candid interview which accompanied the tunes, Richard talked to Jones about the fact he thought many classic punk tunes sounded like The Who and his Christian beliefs.

How cool is that??? Jonesy would make an awesome knight!!!! C'mon.....Queen Elizabeth....do the right thing...knight the greatest punk guitarist there ever was...... Thanks Fuggle....once again..you find the COOLEST stuff.....

WHAT?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, he has just GOT to be being sarcastic (gee THAT would be new ) or just saying that for effect.........being unable to GET Jonesy's Jukebox ( ) I missed this whole thing. I knew he liked Cliff, but being Knighted? I would just doubt very seriously Jonesy would ever be knighted (it would have to happen over the Queen's dead body I am sure ) nor would he want to (unless he could use it to get girls )............if it ever happened (which of course it goes without saying it wouldn't :, Johnny would die of shock and embarrassment <---symbol usually means something else but is strangely appropriate here ---

I listened to that show and I'm sure they weren't serious, that journalist who wrote that article must really be scraping at the bottom of the barrel, turning jokes into news. I love the idea of Jonesy being honoured like that, and that show was great, I would've loved to hear the one where he had The Stooges and Pete Townsend in the same room.
