Since this was our last show ( ) Elisabeth and I decided we really wanted the hell mashed out of us aga.. ..er.... ..we really wanted to see JOHN up close again, so we planned to arrive very early to try for front row. We got to Brixton at 4:30 pm which was much later than we had intended due to cab problems Still we were first in line There were a few fans before us from Holland but they were unsure where to stand to BE first in line so we won the honors We chose to be a little off center this time on the front row figuring more bodily harm would occur dead center. Also Elisabeth was kind enough to lend me her heavy coat to put in front of me since I had had broken ribs in the past and did not want them again
We were fortunate enough to meet Pud and his equally tall friend and felt somewhat protected from being killed since they seemed nice enough guys The Cribs were back and got a somewhat better reception from Saturday night's audience. At least they didn't take a beer shower this time. The DJ was just as long and excruciating to wait through as he had been on the two previous nights, and then our MEN came on (after "There Will Always Be An England", see Pud's excellent previous post on Thursday night's thread on the significance of that song).
John again had on his blue button down shirt ( ) as well as the PiL shirt he had worn previously. I was OVERJOYED that he wore that again because I had been too far away the previous night to get the full joy of his having worn it ;D Glen wore the black vest from the previous night and looked all GQ again but must have been out of hair spray , and Rammy wore a casual dress shirt (looked like a white t-shirt under it) and blue jeans. I don't know what Cookie wore , but Jonesy wore black I do know it was the first night Rammy didn't wear his Union Jack (?) shirt I waved at him constantly when he would look my way (to see if any of us were getting ready to pounce on John no doubt)......he turned once and looked behind him to see who the hell I was waving at
John was very playful, but it looked as if maybe his throat was bothering him a bit. He stuck his tongue out and grabbed his throat on some of the particularly loud or high vocal parts of Anarchy. He looked so damn cute doing that . Glen and Jonesy cut up quite a bit with each other during this show (when I could drag my eyes off Mr. John and Mr. John long enough to notice). John did, (as has been mentioned elsewhere) forget the words to EMI. If you love him though, it was a really sweet moment. He got kinda blank looking for a moment (he was center stage), then kinda tried to play if off for a while to see if it would come to him, then walked over to his little notebook he always keeps up on stage with the words but it wasn't on the right page and he didn't want to KEEP looking, so he had to turn a few pages.......THEN he walked back and held the mic out hoping that the fans would take over and help him, but no, so he just said "I forgot the words" and started smiling all embarrassed/cute like.........when the song was over and the band took a break he apologized for forgetting and kept kinda crouching down and holding his hand in front of his face as if he didn't want to show his face to us and smiling.......I, of course, kept shouting "IT"S ALLLLL RIGHT BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY" at him...................GODDDDDDDDDDD he was adorable doing that ;D ;D
He was on the money on all the songs there after though .......did Anarchy kinda like he did on Leno but not quite so operatic He sounded wonderful and incredible..........
Elisabeth and I both screamed our lungs out at Rammy too everytime he would exit the stage with John.........finally...FINALLY at the very end of the show, he turned and waved kinda in a general way.........I don't think he had a clue WHO was yelling but dammit he knew SOMEONE was.......I bet it irritated the hellouta the little man We love you Mr. Rambo
They did Roadrunner for the first time on this night as well....I am SOOOO glad we got to see and hear THAT John now DOES know the words to that song
Add what I missed Miss Elisabeth, and add your OWN perspective.. ......I shall be sending your gloves back to you on Saturday......my first day off of work since returning home
