Out of interest there doesn't seem to be any threads on here relating to Pistols Art or memoribillia (think that's spelt right?!) I am a mad collector, I have signed stuff by John and Sid and the rest of the band etc, I have also met Glen and Paul on many occasions (John and Steve only the once!) Does anyone else here collect original artwork by Jamie Reid or is this site simply about individuals obsession with John? I'll start the ball rolling, come on lets see some of those little Gems you have hidden away! I have just had these two paintings commissioned from a grafitti artist in France, hand cut stencil and spray paint, what do you think? Original 1977 poster signed by Jamie Reid, Fucking huuuuuge!! My stairwell. Limited Ed. Screenprint GSTQ Limited Edition Flag which I asked Jamie to sign for me in London One off original works from 1976/1977 Taken from Jamies personal archive! My Front Room! There you go, LOADS more hidden away but got the ball rolling, come on, 'get em out for the Lads'!!

PUD - this is fantastic! You have so many great things here, I am seriously jealous! Yes, there are many Pistol fan-atics on this site, myself included. I have a couple things - an original Philadelphia newspaper from Oct' 78 with Nancy on the cover (she was born & raised in Philadelphia), talking about her death and Sid's involvement. All other magazines and newspapers were read and lost or thrown out unfortunately. I also have a few Pistol albums on vinyl, including one from '77. BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THAT.... Please please tell us. What was it like to meet the band, especially John & Glen? ??

You have BUNCHES of great stuff Pud, I salute you for it. That must have taken a HELLUVA lot of money and time . But the things we love are worth it aren't they? I don't collect art or such related to the Sex Pistols particularly, but I do collect John related stuff and have some art/portraits of him. The rest of my collection is not "high dollar" though and is more stuff like magazines, clippings, books, CDs, posters, dolls, photos, DVDs, etc . Feel free to post more pictures, makes us all jealous ----------------------------------------------- I want to take the time to point out that this board is not just about John "obsession". Members are free to create any John related threads they wish to and the board generally goes in the direction it is led. I am a John FAN-atic, and I am sure I am more than a bit obsessed , but I am not the only member of this board. It is just that this board is not a Sex Pistols board, it is a John Lydon board and therefor we focus more on John

Pud, Wow - getting paintings commissioned - that's serious collecting. I like them - gives you something very unique. I do collect pistols "stuff". Mostly this is CDs, DVDs, LPs, magazine/newspaper articles, books, some photos. I don't have a lot of interest in Jamie Reid artwork - I have looked at GSTQ flags (like you have shown), but so far haven't really wanted to spend the money generally asked. I also don't really collect autographed items - though I do have a copy of John's book "Rotten" signed by him. Unfortunately, I didn't get this signed by him in person - I think that would probably have more meaning to me (like the flag you got Jamie to sign). I especially like the picture LPs, so I've been trying to gather all those. I have some on the walls, like the NMTB one in our 2nd guest room (used to be my niece's bedroom, now another guest room): (You'll notice the newspaper ad for GSTQ framed above it) In the same room I have some "draft" posters for the Filth & the Fury that I liked: (they go nicely with the stuffed animals, don't you think?) And, out in the hall a couple of pistols photos that I liked well enough to frame & hang on the wall: In the "other" guest bedroom is a pistols clock made from a "gold" single record of GSTQ: I have a number of sex pistols t-shirts, etc. This is one with John that I especially like: And, for more formal engagements, sex pistols in cashmere: (paid too much for this, but it is so incredibly soft & I love wearing it! The back has the union jack:) Two of my favorite items are pendants - I like these because I can wear them more places than most of the clothes items. The one is a metal union jack badge with "sex pistols", and the other a guitar pic on a chain, the picture below shows the GSTQ side. And the other side is John (this is probably my favorite item & I wear it frequently, the photo is a little fuzzy though - should have adjusted the camera for the close-up shot): Anyway, that's some of what I have. I love collecting pistols stuff - there is such a variety out there & it is fun to see what you can find. [Don't think I'm quite at your level yet though.] Thanks for the post. I'd like to see more of you have collected. Joan

Sorry, been away for a couple of days! Thanks for the posts, loving that framed Queen and Bollocks picture disc Joan D!!!!
I will sort some more photo's of my collection as soon as I can, the ones I posted were recent (ish) additions I photo'd for insurance purposes so allready had them loaded on my pc!!
Kathy, the band are really cool, was a little disappointed with John as he seems pretty suspicious of everybody, not an easy person to talk to when you are a 'nobody' if you know what I mean. Steve is very proffessional and reserved, likes to be private and also difficult to talk to. Only met the pair of them once though and although introduced by a mutual friend they still didn't have a clue who I was! I tend to feel real clumbsy when around people like that, you tend to be scared in case you ask something that they have been asked a million times before!!
Paul and Glen are cool as fuck! Totally approachable, down to earth and easy to talk to, you don't feel the same pressure not to make an arse of yourself when with them! I actually took a black and white photo of Paul with me last time I saw him to get signed, his wife was with him at the time and she liked the photo (hadn't seen this one before!) so she asked if she could borrow it and get a copy made! They sent it back to me signed a few days later!!
Anyway, all pretty boring so better do some work!! Later!!

Sorry to hear your disappointing experience w/John - I hear what you say about that walking-on-eggshells kinda feeling when others give off that strange vibe. Maybe he feels he has to keep that guard up on account of negative experiences he's had with others over the years? Cool to hear about Paul, Mrs. Cook, & Glen - sounds ilke you had great experiences meeting them. You're probably the 3rd - 4th person I've personally asked to describe what it was like to meet Mr. Matlock. Everybody says the same thing - he's a great person, has no airs about him, very approachable, etc. He really sounds like a class act...

Oh and I get the sense John is a "hard to get to know but if he is your friend he is your friend for life" kinda guy. Could be that he says in real life he is shy. Oh and he can be moody...shocking I know Glad Glen and Paul are good to talk to. Surprised Steve would not be more chatty. Still would like to meet them all...sigh.

Kathy don't get me wrong, I wasn't dissappointed with John as a person, just that the band have meant a lot to me since my childhood and the day you finally get to meet one of your 'idols' it doesn't really go how you expect it to! So dissappointed with the experience not the person is probably a better way of putting it! This is difficult to explain and my Karma has already been hit once (presumably for criticizing John) but I have a friend here who lives just down the road from me, his name is Warwick Davis, you probably don't know him but he is an actor and has starred in Movies such as Willow, Harry Potter, Star Wars and probably the best well known of his movies in the States is Leprechaun. Going out for a meal with him and his family is always an experience, but he always has time for ANYONE who approaches him, he makes you feel comfortable and confident in his presance, just didn't get that feeling with John and was dissappointed because of it! Anyway, enough said. Oh and Kathy, don't know where you live but Glen is a big QPR football fan, he is often at the games so good place to start hanging round!!!

Impressed to hear he's also a class act! And thanks for the heads-up on Mr. Matlock. Unfortunately, I have no travel plans to the U.K. anytime soon. It's probably just as well - if I were to ever be in the same room with Glen or John, people I've admired for 30 years now, I'd wouldn't know what to say or do!!!

I bought the filth & fury posters on ebay. The seller said they were "draft" versions, but who knows. There were about 10 different ones posted & I picked out the 3 I liked the best. They may be total fake jobs, but I liked them. [The small print on one of them is not only a mirror image, but it advertises a different film - so at least they are unique!] Joan

Yeah, Warwick was in Ray, not very often you get to see him in a movie as he is, normally he's behind a big furry mask or in a robot suit! (Hitchhikers Guide To Galaxy) He is a top guy and his family are lovely!!
