Well.......it is inevitable that this thread be here. 29 years since the death of Sid. I am not sure all that think they pay tribute actually do. Let me reassure you that if you are paying tribute to this young man by getting high you are NOT paying tribute. If you are paying tribute by carving something bloody into your skin you are NOT paying tribute. If you have any type of a death wish or self harm wish you are NOT paying tribute to Sid whatsoever.
However. If today you go out and buy a toy for a child you ARE paying a fit tribute. If you contribute to the welfare of a young person you ARE doing fair tribute. If you love your girlfriend/boyfriend you ARE paying tribute, and if you hold dear the ones you love, your friends, you ARE paying tribute. If you listen to the music John, Steve, Cookie, and Glen created, Sid would be proud. He added some to that legacy but he was not the creator of it. And he knew that.
What he most valued was not the image, but Nancy. John. Those he held dear. The MUSIC. Keep to THAT today and you will fittingly remember a 21 year old who died much much too soon. Sid, we are sorry for the "cult" that think they honor you with drugs and suicide, and today we hold tribute to a Lost Boy. We hold tribute to the ultimate fan. We hold tribute to an exuberant child.
