Hope ya don't mind if I take the opportunity to promote a great Pittsburgh band whom fans of the Pistols would definitely love. Sometimes an album just doesn't require much explanation or analysis. Such is the case with Chop You Up, the new CD by Pittsburgh's Forbidden 5. They've been called psychobilly, surf-punk, garage-punk, & surf-garage-punk, & I guess any of those could fit. It's loud-n-fast rock-n-roll, good for jumping up & down to or opening your windows & waking the neighbors. Bruce, the lead singer, told me that they worked with a veteran producer that knew how to deliver exactly what the band wanted, & this certainly shows in the CD's "live" sound. For lyrics, Bruce gets his inspiration from B-horror movies. It's a nice change for those of us who have heard every song there is to hear about anarchy, girlfriends, cars, or turning your radio on. There's even an instrumental, which I mention coz I dig rock instrumentals. It can be purchased at Incredibly Strange Video, & at $10 (postage included), it's the steal of the new millenium!
