Brief Hiatus/Computer Probs

Hey everyone!
Just felt I'd share that you might not see me around for a little while.
I'm having computer problems - nothing serious, really, my computer just has trouble restarting. it's a long story, but if I have to turn it off, then turn it on for whatever reason, it shows a blue error screen, but not long enough for me to read it! then it shuts off, turns on, and comes up with a screen to start windows normally or to start startup repair. when I do the startup repair, it says it can't repair it!! arg!! it will go through this pattern - blue screen, turn off, start up screen - several times and it DOES eventually start. it's been going on for about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks, and since I'm leaving for college soon, I need to get it taken care of.

However, if anyone knows what's going on with it, or you've had the same problem and know how to fix it, PLEASE TELL ME. I have Windows Vista, which is so new a lot of companies don't know how to fix bugs yet. And no worries, I have all my pictures/files backed up otno an external hard drive, so yes, my johnny/sex pistols/pil pictures are safe. lol.

So basically, this long ass message was to say I'm taking my computer to get repaired/fixed tomorrow. And I might possibly have to return it. I got this for a grad. present and it's literally only two months old and if it's a serious problem, I want a NEW COMPUTER THAT WORKS.

So in conclusion, I won't have my computer for a few days. Which sucks, but whatever.

Soooo I guess I will see everyone around, hopefully whenever I get my computer back/possibly get a new, improved, non-retarded computer.

OH NO... ....I wish I DID know how to fix it.. .....we so don't need to lose another posting member, we are already down two.. ......I sure hope this gets fixed, you get a new computer, and get BACK here soooooooooon

I shouldn't be gone long - it should only take like 3 days to fix it if they can figure out whats wrong. Either way, I always have my mom's computer that I can use. I think it might just be a glitch in a file somewhere and they can probably fix it really easily. Soooo yeah. I shouldn't be gone THAT long.

Hmm, it sounds like a virus would do something like that. Viruses can do all kinds of crazy stuff. Increase the size of files. Give you a blue screen of death. What kind of protection did you have on it?

It's not a virus cause I have really good virus protection etc. My brother checked it out and said he thinks it's a corrupt file. So it's getting repaired as we speak... maybe. It's possible that it can't be fixed and then I have to get a new computer. which is frustrating considering I live for college in, oh, a WEEK.

YAY! Computer is fixed.

So my computer came with a webcam installed on it, right?

Well, HP (maker of said computer) INSTALLED THE WRONG SOFTWARE AND DRIVER ON THE MACHINE ... TWICE. Not just 1 copy of improper software + driver, TWO COPIES. So my computer was trying to run TWO pieces of software that had NO PLACE being on my computer, causing it to spazz out.

So... computer = fixed. I = happy.

That's good that its fixed. Those kinda repair bills aren't cheap.
