John's influence on musicians

One of the biggest contributions John has made is his influence on other musicians. The energy in his music , the truth in his words and the emotions they affected. The Sex Pistols profoundly changed me when I heard them, ive been listening to them for 30 years and have been creating msic all that time. As a musician listening to great, raw, truthful music from John - after that the music I created naturally was influenced. In music there are two time periods - before sex pistols and after sex pistols. and john is the heart of the sex pistols - his energy and creative drive continue to influence musicians through the years with each project he takes on.

also, the idea of complete freedom in your music - as a creative person is very freeing and important.

influence does not equal imitation.

raw powerful music from the heart - that is actually how i describe my music - and that is exacty how you could decribe john's - but they are completely unique because the whole point is music as expression of the individual experience.

music is a medium through which energy travels.

i would love to share my music with john

Thank you for posting Dave, and thanks for joining our little board. For all of our joking around, we truly love and respect John for all of his many accomplishments. The world of music would be much the worse without him.
