Since we were talking about twisted songs (I.E. NIN Closer) has anyone ever listened to the turtles (circa 1960s) song Happy together? I wonder if anyone else finds this a twisted song but me? First of all the music is not happy/peppy but rather downbeaten in a cool way. And second the lyrics are strange I think of you and me It has to be The only one for you for me and me for you not matter how you toss the dice it has to be I can't see me loving nobody but you for all my life... (I may have the lines a little out of order) The reason I find this strange is he also says "so hows is the weather?" which suggests he is not near the object of his affection. So where is he singing from? He doesn't say that they are apart just that he is determined they should be together. For some reason this sounds to me like an obsessive/stalker song. He is basically saying "no matter what you think or do we HAVE to be together." A little scary when you really listen to the way he sings it and the lyrics themselves. Imagine if this was sung to you by someone you didn't want to date? Or is it just me?LOL
