While I never got to see the Pistols back in the day (or even recently for that matter ) I did see The Police with the GoGos many years ago. Both bands were great...

Johnnysgirl, Hope you enjoy the Police concert. I went to see them this past July when they played in Hershey, PA. It was a good time. Were they note perfect? No, but so what. Sting was relatively conversational with the audience (not in comparison to John, of course). But, I would go see them again. The link below will take you to a posting by Stewart regarding one of the first concerts on the tour, what he calls "Our First Disaster Gig" I enjoyed reading it, maybe you will too. www.stewartcopeland.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=26795&highlight=#26795Have to relate though, that I'm a little upset with them at the moment. Since we went to the concert & ended up taking our niece's 13 year old son, we heard no end of how much she liked them, favorite band, etc., etc. So, when they added an additional show in Philadelphia for Nov. 14th, I went & bought tickets for my niece (and her husband & both kids) to see them as a birthday present. Her birthday was in August & she had been waiting to see them. Then I got an email late night on Nov. 13th saying that the show in Philadelphia was being postponed because Sting had the flu & the doctor said he had to rest. I had to call her & tell her the bad news. Plus, it seems like he was just fine for the show the next day in Charlotte. Anyway, now I'm left waiting to hear regarding when the show is to be re-scheduled. While they still have my money (which wasn't exactly pocket change for 4 tickets) and my niece didn't really receive much of a birthday gift. Maybe they'll come back to Philly in time for her birthday next year.
Enjoy!

Well.. I`ll see them in Buenos Aires this saturday which is december the 1st.. becuase the tour office only had tickets for saturday the 1st because they are playing on sunday too.. I don`t care if the police are not note perfect... besides.. that fucking stadium has the field divided in the VIP field which is damn expensive.. you get to be near the band... and then.. there is the back side of the field which is not expensive and well I`m gonna be there.. don`t care in I`m not in the VIP section... at least I`ll get to see Sting and the guys...

Yeah - stadium concerts aren't the best - you have pay way too much to get anywhere close to the band. But they can be fun. We were up on our feet the whole time for the Police concert in July. Guess you take what you can get & enjoy it for what it is.
Have a good time!

How was the show?
You'll have to let me know if the warm-up band was still Fiction Plane (with Sting's son playing bass & singing lead, oddly enough). I bought one of their CDs & it's growing on me. Wondering what you thought.

No.. Beck was the main supposrt act and they sucked... I don`t know.. maybe it is the way they perform... Actually.. I was at a good place.. arrived to the stadium at 5 pm .. the first support band was an argentinian band called Cuentos Borgeanos haha they were good... at least they put some effort but those spoilt brats at the VIP side didn`t give a fuck (I ahte the VIP section.. it`s shit.. it`s like you are rich so you go to the VIP and the back side of the field is for the middle cklass.. the one that are not as wealthy as we are) The Police concert was.. how to explain.. at leats from where I was standing it felr as if Stuing was fronting a badass punk band because the crowd near me started to pogo like crazy.. for some time I couldn`t stand it and asked to be removed.. I made firends with a woman who traveled with me.. (not my age hah she was a bit older) she was near me and she asked to be removed too... that pogo shit was soo unnecesary I got to enjoy the band more that I did with those crazy people pogoing and well.. there was the heat (it`s starting to be sumemr over hear an heat can strike you at certain times) but the show was great.. I LOVED IT!!! but my untimate dram will be to see the Sex Pistols live ans that`s why I love the Sex Pistols.. you can be near them if you can find the place on time

Forgot to mention that we went to see the Police in Pittsburgh on monday July 28th. I enjoyed the concert - they were more together as a band than a year ago. Elvis Costello opened for them & Sting came out during his set to sing Allison with him. Both guys are sporting a rather furry look: I never tried to paste a video in, but I'll see if this works - it is a really short video clip of them singing: I'm glad we saw them again (though someone needs to tell Sting to shave that beard). I also liked Elvis better than when we saw him last fall opening for Dylan. Then he was solo and the sound in the basketball arena he played in was terrible. He made up for it by playing around with the crowd, telling stories & laughing a lot. This show he didn't have much to say. Joan
