The day of Horror heros seems to have past. We had Norman Bates, Leatherface, Michael Myers, Jason, Freddy, Candyman...........then...........who? Is the day of great horror behind us? What is your favorite? Thoughts on the above? Scariest film to you? Most fun? Tell us, we want to know

Great horror is kind of a thing of the past. Why? Because those great horror movies on the 70s/80s set a standard which Hollywood now feels the need to live up to, when really they should just be making movies for the sake of making movies - as people in the 70s/80s did!
My favorite horror movie is "Last House on the Left" which was made in 1972. I haven't seen it in a while, but I know I still love it because it scared me so bad when I first saw it that I cried hysterically for like 3 hours afterwards. That is a visceral response to a movie and how it should it.

That is a visceral response to a movie and how it should it. You know I have never SEEN that one I need to see it, I love the older ones. It seems like the ones that come out now are just..........disturbing. But not in a good way really. I really loved Friday the 13th when I first saw it because it was so damn unique. And at the time so damn believable (not like all the many many MANY sequels that have come out in it's name). I loved the Nightmare on Elmstreet films for the concept and the character of Freddy. What a wonderfully imaginative idea for anyone who has ever feared dying in their nightmares. I loved the original Chainsaw film for the dream quality as well as for the victim I actually wanted to live (don't see that often in horror). Did anyone here know Viggo (Lord of the Rings) Mortenson was in Leatherface Chainsaw 3? He played bait. I loved Halloween because it defined the holiday for me when I was a kid, I loved Psycho because DAMN Anthony Perkins was a helluva actor..........so many good ones dammit.........and of course every Halloween I watch the old 1930's Dracula film. GOD that one is HYSTERICAL

You cannot beat a good horror or sci fi film! I have a huge collection of genre movies, all the classic stuff which most of you have probably seen! The gory ones are fun but I really like dark supernatural movies Mainstream hollywood can still put out a good one from time to time, but the real gems are still the indiependent ones! unfortunatly 95% of them are shit! It's funny I got cast to be an extra in the new TERMINATOR film It stars Christian Bale as the adult John Conner and it's being filmed here in AZ. I had to call them yesterday and tell them I couldn't do it becuase of work ;D Later......................

I love the Terminator flicks and though they are clearly Sci Fi and not Horror, I have to think Christian Bale is an excellent decision to be John Connor.......however I am a firm believer that the first two Terminator movies achieved perfection and will be tough to follow........what did you think from what you heard?

Spot on! the first two TERMINATORS are classic, however I did like "Rise of the machines" but It should have stopped there. Once James Cameron sold the franchise....you just knew a bunch of crap would follow! like "the Sarah Conner chronicles" which I just will not watch. Terminator 4 salvation (which I could have been in) I just have a very, very bad feeling about! It's directed by McG the guy who made Charlie's angels Say no more But!!! hopefully, fingers crossed..... Shonie
