This mainly for older members probably. But on the 10th anniversary of the death of a favorite performer (a few months back) I got to thinking about how I felt when I first heard of his death. I hadn't given the gentleman a thought in at least 7 years, hadn't bought a CD or been to a concert. Then I heard of his death and suddenly I wanted to reconnect. What kind of shit is that? I felt like I had betrayed him somehow. I was a big fan in the late 80's and early 90's, and then life happened and he was forgotten. And it would seem I wasn't alone, not in the States anyhow. Over here you would have thought his band released like 2 or 3 CDs tops. Watching the many tributes that came out to him after his passing, I remember one in particular where the audience was supposed to finish a line in a popular song of theirs live and the audience didn't. The look on his face just before he carried on. Shame. Shame on the fans. Shame on me. We should always love our "idols" and support them because one never knows when the next breaking news story will be that they are no more.............. Funny the things you think of at 2 in the morning

This is sort of related, but April 20 was the two year anniversary of my friend Zoe's death from Burkitt's Lymphoma. She was 14, the little sister of one of my best friends in the world. It was so weird talking on the phone for Caitlin (her sister) that day - it seems like just the other day she was calling me to tell me that Zoe was sick again and was going to live in Doernbecher's in Portland, Oregon. It's weird to lose your idols. But it's even more weird to lose your friends when you're only 16, 17, 18.

It is so instant and odd.

Michael Hutchence inspired the thought. It is just weird who we seem to forget we loved until we hear of their death.......for me at least. SO sorry to hear about your friend Mish, and of course you are right, obviously it is much more difficult to lose a friend.
