Carlin was so amazing. My first memory of every seeing Carlin was of course in the Thomas the Train show where he played the conductor - I remember watching it on PBS when I was really little, probably eating goldfish crackers and grinding the crumbs into the carpet like I loved to do. I know that show was on from the mid 80s to the early 90s, so I was very young. I had no idea he was the kind of comedian he was until I saw one of his HBO specials when I was 13, 14, or 15.
He was a brilliant man. Intelligent, very opinionated but in a clever, funny, smart way. He was witty. On stage he was harsh, but off stage, I've heard he was one of the sweetest, kindest human beings ever. One of my favorite comedians - loved him in Dogma, loved his stand up, loved him as the conductor as a child.
He'll be very missed.
