I recently discovered this amazing artist named Charlotte Sometimes (yes, she got her name from exactly where you think she got her name from: The Cure). Her album, "Waves and the Both of Us" is available on iTunes; as well, you can preview her songs on myspace.
She's a delightful songwriter: clever, but simple lyrics. Her voice is amazing: I think she sounds a bit like a toned down Amy Winehouse (as in, light on the attempts to sound "soulful" and "funky" and "deep" .... am I the only one who thinks Winehouse's voice is enhanced to sound better than it is?), but it's also a bit punky (think Debbie Harry, but less husky.)
My favorite songs are: "How I Could Just Kill a Man (Acousic)" "Losing Sleep" (regular and acoustic), "Toy Soldier" and "Ex-Girlfriend Syndrome" (so relevant!)
She's talented, she's cute, and she's wearing an awesome trenchcoat on the cover of her album.
