This one is controversial on the main board.......let us discuss here and it BETTER be more than just me and Kathy because dammit WE have discussed it What did you think of Bale and Ledger? Oscar worthy? Pistols influence? Tell TELL LMAO!!! Yes - it's hard to believe somethng like the Dark Knight could invoke such controversy, but there ya go, Snoogs. I LOVED Christian Bale's performance (my second fav to Val Kilmer). I cannot believe he's not American. Plus, he's so damned mysterious and intense in the Dark Knight, as in all his pics. And, of course, the fact that Christian is SEXY doesn't hurt! As for Heath's Joker, a million times better than Nicholson's, I agree with Bruce Wayne (a/k/a Christian) and find his influence to be Sid.

Dammit it IS going to be just me and Kathy Well I stand by Johnny being the clothing and look influence but I think Heath took the overall personality and personage from serial killers and people like Charles Manson, people a little more over the top than our John (or even Sid)..............I think the persona of "The Joker" was Heath's own creation, and was indeed Oscar worthy, as it reached so many. Kevin Smith, a huge comic book fan, said that this performance was one of the best he had ever seen and stated that Ledger immersed himself in the role. So influence...........John, clothes wise. Psychos in general personality wise with a special tip of the hat to Charles Manson but with less schizophrenia and more intelligence. JMO.......next

Sorry, I'd love take part, but I haven't seen the movie yet & probably won't until it comes out on DVD. We just don't go to the movie theater any more.
I know my sister really liked the movie & Ledger's performance. She doesn't know very much about John & Sex Pistols, though, so she wouldn't pick up on any Sex Pistols influence. My Mom didn't like the movie or Ledger's Joker at all. But that isn't too surprising.
I did watch the DVD of Equilibrium on Sunday with Chris Bale in the lead role. The movie was better than expected (I wasn't expecting it to be very good at all) and watching Bale I could definitely see him as Batman.

I have only seen Christian in one other movie, as I am not a "fan" per say. That was a movie adaption of one of my favorite novels, American Psycho. I have to say, Christian tried hard to live up to the spirit of the novel but fell short, not his fault I think, but probably that of the screenplay writer. Even so I own that one, and keep it despite the fact that Pat Bateman to me will always be the GQ model on the book cover. Thanks for having the guts to take that movie on though, Christian

I must bring back this topic just to say I think Heath took a great deal of the voice for the character from Chucky in the Child's Play movies. And I love those movies. I just got the DVD of The Dark Knight and the best parts of the film are without a doubt those with The Joker. He just OWNS in that film and I ended up jumping on the couch Tom Cruise crazy style for him thru most of the film. But then I must say my taste runs heavily towards the "dark side" with men in general Heath was just too pretty for me until this film. It is a sad crying shame it had to be his last.

Is it worth watching? I've been thinking of buying it for a week, just need a small review ;D HELL YEAH it is worth watching! Hard to give you a good review unless I know if you are at all familiar with the characters of The Joker and Two-Face. If you are, you will LOVE this film. They are portrayed here as they should be. I am not a big fan of Christian's Batman, but the movie more than makes up for that shortcoming with those two and Michael Caine as Alfred. I guess the new Rachel is okay since I never saw Katie Cruise play her. I hate when they replace an actor in a movie series though. Why all the hype about the Joker? Well let me just say if you are a fan of that character THIS is the one you have been praying for. Heath Ledger earns all the Oscar hoopla with his darkly humorous but sympathetic characterization. He really IS explained best by Alfred when he says "some just want to watch the world burn". In other words you can not always understand why some men want to kill or cause destruction. Sometimes there is no why, sometimes the mere act, the chaos, the destruction itself is it's OWN reward. This Joker portrays this thought perfectly and at the end remains at large (though sadly with Heath's death the purple and green colors should be forever retired). Two Face for those of us who are fans of the characters, has always been a sympathetic villain. No fairer man is there, because guilty or not, you die or go free with the toss of a coin. Even though he knows the Joker is guilty of Rachel's death (she was his fiance), he still allows him to live because he won the coin toss. Justice for all. Other great performances would be Morgan Freeman and we of Johnny'dom's own Gary Oldman of Sid Vicious fame. This movie rocked for me, and I hope you like it just as much!

Congrats to our dear Joker, Heath Ledger, on his Oscar win. I know you see it Babe and are damn proud! I hope it will mean a lot to little Matilda someday

If there IS a sequel I hope it focuses on Harley and stands as kind of a tribute to Heath's Joker Here are a couple more of Heath, one of which is an INCREDIBLE drawing off Deviantart ;D The Joker sitting Batman straight (and looking damn good doing it) The beautiful Deviantart portrait
