Old film now of course and everyone knows the ending, but did you suspect it when you first saw the film? (Eventually I WILL find a film to discuss that people know about and/or like )

S4J,
No - I did not expect the ending when I first saw the film in the theater. Of course, watching it the second time, the indications were all there, but that's just hindsight.
You have picked a film I liked very much - even though I had nightmares after seeing it. Just the idea that you might be able to "see dead people" and not control it, is just frightening. I love horror films - but very few manage to give nightmares. Not that I like nightmares, cause I don't. But scary stuff gets me more than anything else.

Joan That is what I loved Joan, that the film made you THINK about what IS out there. When Donnie Walberg's character said "Do you know why you are afraid when you are alone? I do" I got CHILLS and kept them through most of this film. When the little boy has to be pushed into that area where the slave was held prisoner, when he saw the teen that said "hey, do you want to see my Dad's gun" and then you see the back of his head blown out. Just AWESOME. Wonderful filmmaking and CHILLING. Haley Joel Osmet was so damn good in his role as a little boy with way way too much on his mind. And Bruce Willis was just GOLD when he did the scene in the restaurant where you just KNOW his wife is a bitch, and ALL the scenes where you think he is just a damn good psychologist trying to draw his young patient out. Then the mother of the child, you FEEL her pain because she is a good mother never ashamed of her child, just wanting to understand. I loved where the little boy says "do you know when the hairs stand up on the back of your neck? That is them."........EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK Just a wonderful film, I can't say enough about it. But I will shut up now

S4J,
I have to say - I got chills just reading what you wrote!!
Both Haley & Bruce played their roles just right. You couldn't help but feel for the little boy. whisper: "I see dead people." Wonder what kind of dreams / nightmares he had?

Wonder what kind of dreams / nightmares he had? Joan When nightmares happen in broad daylight that doesn't leave much room in the dreamscape. I loved too how you are made to kind of hate the wife until the end........another scene I loved is when the little boy is finally explaining it to his Mom and he tells her that the lady is "standing beside my window"........EEEEEEEEEEK And then about his Grandmother.....that was a tissue moment
