So, people, what instruments do you play? Maybe you even have a band? Want to share some covers? Please, do.
My mum made me go to a music school. And she chose the worst instrument she could choose...an accordion. x.x Aside that, I had to play piano too. Last year I graduated. Hallelujah. Also, I play guitar for about 1.5 years. Done some 'not so good' covers, wrote a few songs and that's about it.
Now, how about you?

I play the piano and the banjo, which I know sounds ridic, but it's actually really fun. I've played the drums since the 6th grade. I'm currently learning the cello, but since I don't own one (they are expensive!), it's hard to do anything with it. My mom played the accordian, the saxophone, and drums. My sister played the alto sax and piano. My brother played/s the guitar and drums. My dad isn't interested in music. My uncle was the drummer in a rock band in the 70s. Musical family I suppose. Or just creative.

You're a very lucky kid/adult then. My family is absolutely not-musical. Except my dad. He could play a few instruments. And my mom. But that was in the past.

I don't know where you're from, but in some places, there are stores where you can just rent instruments for a while until you learn a bit and decide you really want to continue with it. That's what I'm going with a cello currently. It's cheaper than buying.

I'm from a shithole called Latvia. And we dont have extras like that. If you're buying an instrument - you're welcome, if not - fuck off. I would really love to learn to play the flute. The only thing I can afford right now is a harmonica, which Im buying today, btw.

I don't play anything at the moment, except for air-drums. I've been saving for a drum-set for a while now, and hopefully I can buy them after Christmas. ^__^ The only thing I have now are the drumsticks. xD I've been wanting to play drums since I was 10-11 so it will be a dream come true.

Used to play acoustic guitar before. But my cousin took it to the big city, when he became a student, and broke it after getting drunk. No money to buy a new one. ;(

Music has always been VERY important to me, so I play a variety of instruments: cello, flute, classical piano (although I have always been able to teach myself more current styles as long as I have the sheet music), and I sing in a classical choir. Because my piano, which was 18 years old and in a non-temp or humidity controlled environment, had to go...but I'll be getting a new full-size keyboard with fully weighted keys (which is important when you are used to playing a piano) for my 35th birthday, in July 2010. Can't wait!! And in a way, it'll be better than a piano, because it has a collapsible stand so that it can be taken anywhere, and a cover for the keyboard itself. I couldn't think of a better birthday present than that. I hope to buy another professional flute by X-mas 2010...I haven't had one since college, but since one of my majors was in music performance/theory/composition, I had chosen flute as my major instrument. I miss it alot, and will be very glad when I have another!! The one instrument I wish I could learn is the guitar, but I've tried, and found it quite difficult...it's not at all like playing the cello!!
