I keep seeing documentaries on this topic on History International and I REFUSE to believe I am the only one intrigued. Or maybe I am just the only one intrigued on HERE? I don't know . I think it is a fascinating topic and one that Bible scholars largely seem to want to ignore. So I guess I will fall back on asking Shan to comment if no one else does as I know he has a more theological perspective. Liz, the Bible is not a history book. I will not sit here and dispute things that are in stone on cave walls and in print. There is no need for me to do so. Do I believe there is life besides here on earth? Of course I do. God is not confined to our planet and our knowledge is not confined to that which is known either. Was there a point you wanted me to address? ummm? Whether or not you think God was an "alien" for starters? I mean you have watched science fiction shows where they show advanced races landing on planets where the inhabitants are NOT as advanced and the advanced race is mistaken for being Gods. Could that not have happened here? I guess that is what I want you to discuss.... Not trying to knock you or anything, I just find the topic way interesting.

I am sure he could be thought of as "alien" to a lost world. But I know what you are saying and do I think that is what happened? No. I know the idea is comforting and I understand that. But that is not what I believe. If you want me to go further I will but I don't think it would be particularly popular.

I love discussing it with you. I think you are right but I think Christ has many names in many religions that are the same. I think we are fighting over nothing and that we all agree we just won't agree if you know what I mean. I mean yes I think there was a ........being........from centuries back that influenced so many religions, call him "Christ" whatever. I think so many came up from that. I think somehow, thru our own egos we have lost the message and have put the savior to just us. "WE" have found the answer "WE" are the chosen ones. When no group of people are truly chosen, it is just those that believe that are special. Shan? I know you know this inside and out, what do YOU think? I don't care if anyone else reads it, this is for me and you.

I KNEW I should have made this a separate thread. Anyhows, sorry to be confusing Babe No I wasn't drunk What I meant was I think Christ is called many things in many religions. I am not sure if there is a common "alien" or event that caused this but most stories of creation have similarities and there are similarities in many "myths". For example in Mesopotamia there is a flood story that predates Noah's flood in the Bible but is otherwise quite similar. I meant that the people that follow religions, "subscribe" to them if you will, make more of being separatist and that theirs is the only right way, without bothering to acknowledge similarities. That is why I think the Ancient Astronaut theories are very viable. And what I meant by this being between us (even though we ARE on a public board) is no one else seems to watch that kind of stuff Is that a bit clearer?

The Bible is NOT a history book. No one really knows how long ago time began or if in fact there was "another earth" as some have said. I just do know that the Bible contains what is IMPORTANT in the eyes of God and that is what we should study. I agree the mysteries are interesting, but they should not be used against God, that was never the intention.

How do you know God had anything to do with it and it wasn't just what man wanted us to know/think? Faith. Cop out You have to base that faith on something Shan. SO I would say to you WHY do you have faith in something that had to be transcribed by man. We can't even get our stories right in this day and age with all the technology we have now. What if those that did the transcription got it all wrong? And what if OUR interpretation is all wrong?
