Seems like the right thread to put THIS randon comment on after watching a History Channel documentary Just WHY do Christians consider the story of Job so inspirational? What am I missing.

When I asked a religion teacher in high school, she was literally like, "God took everything and then gave him something else cool to make up for it." And I was like, HE KILLED HIS WHOLE FAMILY. So, no, I don't think Christians even know. They just quote it and move on. (No offense to Christians or anything, that's just my experience.)

That is what has always gotten up my ass about that story. God and Satan were playing a GAME with the man's life, used him as a pawn, allowed his whole entire family to die, then just said "well it is okay because I replaced them". You can't replace a person. That is just so uncool. It would seem according to that story, that human beings are just chess pieces to a bunch of sadistic immortals. No offense.

I just refuse to create a thread for this one.....Ancient Astronauts. Do you believe Aliens visited us in the far past and are responsible for the pyramids, Stonehenge, Easter Island, the Bermuda Triangle, and the Bible/Koran etc? Any thoughts on this and what it might mean for the coming planetary alignment/doomsday and/or rebirth scenario? Interesting topic to me

I guess this post is because last week Mrs. Lorre asked me to watch "I Want It All" by Queen. Oh she didnt' mean anything deep by it. She just thought it was a powerful, chilling song. But listening to it made me think of Freddie. A man I watched for longer than I watched John Lydon. A man with a heart of pure gold, a man that cried when a sick fish he owned had to be put down. A man accused of spreading AIDS to those he was intimate with at the end, a man accused of being careless and uncaring. Freddie was none of those things. He was TERRIFIED of his diagnosis. We must remember that back in 1986 when Freddie was diagnosed, AIDS was a death sentence. There was no hope. No matter how much money you had. I can never think that a man that cried over his lover having to put down a sick fish would have knowingly spread a fatal illness to those he loved. He was scared, terrified, confused, and in denial. Freddie was a truly gentle man. All those that loved him, including band members, lovers, servants, fan club members, family, and friends all agree on this. I will never forget Brian May singing "Too Much Love Can Kill You" at Freddie's tribute and stating it was the "best he had to offer", or his description of Freddie stating that, yes, indeed, he could sing "My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies........" in a final tribute called The Show Must Go On. I will never forget Peter Hutton's description of a weak broken Freddie at the end, or Mary kissing him goodbye, driving off, then being called back and told he was gone. Freddie was a sweet, kind, and true gentle man. All that said, I say this:
Freddie did you know.......that you would be an inspiration to countless singers and musicians in the decades following your death?
Freddie did you know.........that Liza Minelli would sing at your tribute?
Freddie did you know.......that gay men and women everywhere would find strength and courage in your final admittance to carrying the disease?
Freddie did you know.....that by that final admittance you would lead the way for rock fans world wide to accept that gay is okay?
Freddie did you know.......that we that loved you would love you anyway and could care less your sexual orientation?
Freddie did you know.......that your death would lead to more compassion for AIDS sufferers world wide?
Freddie did you know.....that Montserrat Caballe would declare "I will see you again soon" when speaking of your death for news crews after it?
Freddie did you know........the impact you would have world wide on all music fans, gay activists, humanists, and those opposed to the gay lifestyle?
Freddie did you know.....that my mother, and those like her, who is a fundamentalist Christian, would question her views of Hell and those who deserve to go there due to your life, character, and untimely death?
Freddie did you know all the good you did in this world? The light that shines around you? The love that is your memory?
Goodbye Freddie. We love you. Heaven has a helluva lead singer in it's band.

Yeah. There are so many artists I have been a fan of in my life because I am old . Sometimes something happens and you just remember. Then you think why did I not stay there? I was that way when Layne died and when Michael (Hutchence) died. I would say to all our young members "DON'T forget those that have meant something to you". When you lose them you feel so empty when you realize you never gave them a thought for years. They didn't stop being special you just stopped thinking about them.

Interesting topic to me I keep seeing documentaries on this topic on History International and I REFUSE to believe I am the only one intrigued. Or maybe I am just the only one intrigued on HERE? I don't know . I think it is a fascinating topic and one that Bible scholars largely seem to want to ignore. So I guess I will fall back on asking Shan to comment if no one else does as I know he has a more theological perspective.

I will not sit here and dispute things that are in stone on cave walls and in print. There is no need for me to do so. Do I believe there is life besides here on earth? Of course I do. God is not confined to our planet and our knowledge is not confined to that which is known either. Was there a point you wanted me to address?
