Maybe this should be a poll. The thing is, I do quite like them. I think 'Cut' is a good album. But I really do believe that their status as a 'classic' punk band has more to do with just the fact that they were female, as well as in the right place at the right time with good industry connections, rather than that they made great music. I can't help thinking that if that album had been made by an all-male band it wouldn't have got 1/4 of the interest that it has or had. I certainly don't think you can put it on the level of NMTB or the Clash's or Ramones debut albums in terms of classic status and sheer influence. Plus, if you look at them now it's a total shambles from reviews I've read. And Ari-Up seems to be seriously deluded. I swear I read an interview with her where she claimed she invented punk ( shut up Ari you are NOT your stepdad ) , plus a load of other crazy claims. Anyway, what do people think? :-/I'd just be interested to know. EDIT: this is just my opinion. If there are any hardcore Slits fans out there who are convinced they are more important to music than the Beatles and the Rolling Stones combined, feel free to contradict me
