I like the humor on the show and what I have seen is well written so far to a point. I still prefer the old vampire movies though. It seems to me that Hollywood present day just turns everything into a soap opera sooner or later. I agree there... I`ve seen parts of Dracula and read (not seen) something about Nosferatu... nor THOSE were good vampire....

Well strangely perhaps, I think vampires and their portrayals change with the times just like all things. For instance, Nosferatu scared all hell out of people back then and that is understandable. But then so did Dracula but with a hint of something else added. What was added was the sexy appeal of what was considered sexy at that time. A Foreign accented man (not seen much in 1931 in a leading man), a dashing Count, the erotica that people of that day CRAVED because sexual repression was SO pushed.
Now in our present time, a vampire needs a bit more to be a sexy deviant. These days with porn readily available just the hint of elicit sex does nothing for us. We need to SEE the blood lust, we need that vampire breathing down our throat, we need to SEE him rip someone to shreds and drink the blood to know that he COULD do that to us but chooses instead to just fuck us senseless. We want to see, smell, feel, and taste the danger, not just have a hint of it. Now there IS no sexual oppression to speak of, other that perhaps homosexual/lesbianism and bondage. So that is what you tend to see alluded to or just flat out shown on shows like True Blood, along with the "old fashioned" love of Sookie and Bill (which in itself, in this day and time, is considered daring).
Anyway that is my opinion. We are the same as Nosferatu and Dracula, we have just evolved as we must.

Godric gives his life, Eric cries bloody tears Godric asks Sookie to take care of Eric "in this I see God" I WILL miss this character. He could have opened a door to theology on this show that was not yet seen in a positive light. I am not sure I will be as open to the show without him.

HEY MissFangtastic, lets talk the episodes...haha. I LOVE your avatar, Lafayette ROCKS I could have puked when they stuck those damn saucer eyes on him One thing that struck me with Eric when he was in Mrs. Thornton's outfit and he said "goodbye sweetheart" to Lafayette, THAT is another reason he reminds me of Viggo Mortenson. Viggo said the exact same thing in the same way in the movie Leatherface. And kind of had his hair the same too.

The show lost it's only REAL moral backbone with the death of the vampire Godric. It is a shame that some characters are judged more "vital" than others.

Ok.. this will sound like a stupid question.. bt.. what isa mkaer?.. I mean Godrik is Erik´s maker .. I just don´t seem to get it... His Maker means that Godric was the vampire that turned Eric into a vampire. Eric is Pam's Maker, in that he is the one that turned her into a vampire. A Maker holds a certain power and commands some loyality from the one they "turn".
