Is there a performer that was popular in YOUR youth/childhood that is no longer well known? This phenom happens so many times. In every era.........I think this song, sang here by the Bay City Rollers but first done by an Australian named John Paul Young, exemplifies this thing in our society. I feel so bad for our Yesterday's heroes like Leif Garrett from my era.....

As much as became a punk music fan later in the years I admit I was fan of teen pop grupos like Backstreet Boys and Hanson (those brothers COULD play!!!)

Noawadays the Backstreet Bioys are still touring only without Kevin who have left the bad so now there´s only Brian, Nick, Howie and A.J, I guess that it was last year or early this year that the boysed visited Buenos Aires for the third time (I remeber seeing them play in Buenos Aires in 1998 when hey were BIG!!!) but guess they are not so big this time but their oldest fans might have been there to see them live in this oportunity!!!

And Hanson are still touring, I guess.. I found that they still kept making records only that now they are more indie so to speak.. that´s good for them...

I so resent teen pop idols today.. they try to bring the 90s back .. the 90s were better, also the 80s were better.. Duran Duran is also going strong in Argentina with many teen fans who lust Simon Lebon (I´m talking about irl in their late teens who lusts after a man in his 50s .. that´s good and funny ;D)

Good examples. The Backstreet Boys were like a new more modern New Kids On The Block. Hanson was really cool but suffered from getting played to death with one song. Just like the old teeny stars from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. It happens to them all. It is way interesting to me to see the different "teeny idols" of each decade and what the teens of that particular decade "swooned" over. Different guys, different looks, but the behavior from their fans was always the same.

As for teen girls loving men in their 50s, just look at John and this board

Another song by Eric Faulkner formerly of The Bay City Rollers. Eric wrote this song for a band from Ireland called Miami Showband. Apparently in 1975 they got stopped by a fake border patrol in Dublin, Ireland that wanted to use them in their fight with the IRA. Three band members were killed, with one 19 year old member shot 22 times. I was so shocked by this story. Eric's song is beautiful.
