Welsh singer Duffy fled the 2008 Mojo Awards in tears after John allegedly flung her against a wall and scowled "don't you fucking touch me" when she said hello to him.
Finally John has shed more light on the incident, in a report by British tabloid The Sun: "She leapt on my back. I'm not a Maypole for her to go swinging off. Until you know who is doing that you are in a compromising position. If you want to say hello to me then stand in front of me and say hello."

I always felt Duffy's explanation was a bit off. John might be crazy sometimes but I never had him down as a wife beater. At least this explains things more coherently.
If I was in his position, I'd have flung the scatty bitch against a wall too.
