So, I'm a fledgling member of this forum - but I've got to add, I'm already relishing the fact that I am no longer a solitary Lydon-intoxicated child in a sea of humanoids who have never heard the melodious non-melody of Metal Box.

Words cannot express how elated I am, that there truly is a place on Earth where I won't be shunned and quieted for droning on about the emotional hardships of our beloved Mr. Rotten, in his transgression from being a Sex Pistol to PiL.

I hope that I can become actively involved, and that I shall soon become immersed as a proper member amongst you fellow appreciators? I have many photographs to share, many philosophies to drone to you about - just contact me whenever you wish, and we'll chat.

Anyway, now that I've quite finished my introductory monologue, I think that I'll break the ice with a little question/debate:

What is your favourite Rotten/Lydon hairstyle and why? If people respond then I think I'll post a photograph of my personal fave, but I'm not sure what reception I'll receive yet.

Well Kooky critter would certainly be a fitting description for me. Or Bull Goose Looney I love the question Tilly (and WELCOME to the forum!), and my favorite Johnny hair style is not (at least I don't THINK it is) the out and out favorite of most. I LOVED the "treasure troll" look Why? Well I just thought that it suited his face for some reason. He looked dangerously sexy when he pulled attitude, it took balls (as always), and he was at his sexual peak for me in 1996 at the Phoenix Festival and Sheppard's Bush. Just GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Ah, I agree; that is one of his more memorable hairstyles, and of course, it takes a rare character with as much zeal and delightful daring as him, to make it work! Cause I'm a youngster, I tend to veer towards the more juvenile Mr. Lydon, so most of my favourite topknots of his are from circa 1976-1983.

Personally, I have so many favourites - in fact, I'm pretty enamoured by just about every hair that has ever graced his adorable skull, but still, I shall show you one of my most drool-worthy ones. Many might find my choice mundane, but I've just always found those photographs of the early PiL era, when Johnny had ceased to be a full-time Sex Pistol, so appealing.







Mm, it's just so tousled, like he's just crawled out of bed! I don't know, I guess that I just find him so sexy in this period because he's surrounded with this air of moodiness and mystique, and he's in proper 'all-grown-up' musician mode. Plus, Sid died and he seemed to lose his iconic smirk down the drain for awhile.

I guess that the depressed creative type just ticks my box? (x Other highlights for me are his bleached blond 'Anarchy In The U.K' television appearance coiffure, and I also think that he really pulled off the 'Grandmother-Gray' look in that 1979 interview with Dave Berry.
Absurd, I know - but he made it work?

What do you think of his multi-coloured dread-lock era?

My favorite outfit? Hmmmm, there are many depending on the man he was at the time. I think I have two I can narrow it down to. The first (it probably goes without saying to all Rotten/Lydon fans), is the last concert the Pistols did. Damn that was hot.



The second is the Phoenix Festival as you probably already guessed. These are from that show.

Early PiL is my favorite era, too, especially when JL had darker hair...love those pics you posted!

Okay Tilly for my.......picture thing......What is your favorite picture of John of all time? AND what is your favorite performance? My favorite performance is the Phoenix Festival show from 1996. Oh, I totally agree with you - the outfit he wore at the last Pistols show is so drool-worthy it's life-threatening. ^^ He was like a little kinky cowboy. My favourite outfit is either the pink suit and dicky-bow that he wore for his appearance on 'Juke Box Jury' or this one, which is dangerously sexy:



My favourite photograph? Hm, that is so difficult - but I think that I can narrow it down to a few? I think that it just depends on the time of his life that the photograph was taken and how he was feeling at the time, but these are some faves:





I just thought that he really worked the malnourished and pale look. 'Tis just my goofy taste. :B

Hm, favourite show? Perhaps my favourite show in terms of ambient atmosphere, is Huddersfield Christmas Day 1977. I just think that John looks so cute with all the kids, and it really shows what a caring and sensitive soul he was beneath the facade of his blood-curdling snarl. But in terms of general performance, probably Screen On The Green in 1977, because the Pistols were just really raw and Sid had only just joined the band, so there was no apathy yet - also, he was looking mighty fine.

As for PiL, maybe the Tokyo performances? He just seemed to be really enjoying himself, prancing around on the stage with all those Japanese kids hollering lustfully in his direction.

Kool, I'm glad I ain't the only person who thinks that John looked super good with black/dark brown hair, besides Sid! Sid apparently ran across Fisher's office when he saw John's black hair, jumped into his lap and kissed him. xD Sid was a goofy child. I'll bet that that made our poor little Rotten-toothed chappy uncomfortable! But we all know that Sid had low standards, after all those manky groupies and she-fans who turned out to be he-fans, he was bound to find John attractive at some point.

Favorite vocals---EMI, Death Disco, Rise, and Religion (I and II). Not in any particular order.

Favorite suit? Hmm, clarify what you mean by that please? Do you mean outfit or actual suit?
