I have been asked to remove offensive material. Congrats to the person who reported me, you just got this board taken down. . It was a password protected section so I know who I gave passwords too recently. It was the misc. fan fiction section that was reported. If any further violations happen I will just discontinue this board. If you want to leave this board then GET OFF. Nobody wants you here anyway. I am making the board read only until further notice so that I can watch everyone that logs in.

Been a good run Lizzie. You were unique. Let the a**hole try to duplicate it, they won't. The time has passed. I am glad we have a life and don't have to really worry too much about it. I know you worked hard, but just let it go and LIVE.

Oh please! I`m going to miss this board if it`s gone despite not being into John anymore. I hope you find that moron who did this to you!

Very sorry to hear this. And it follows a discussion on bullies, of all things. Sneaking around and reporting people anonymously is bullying in my book.
Especially sad that it was someone you trusted with the password.
I know the board isn't terribly active, but I hope you keep it up nonetheless. I have yet to find another music board where posters don't try to one-up one another!

Agreed, being reported is not not good (I`ve been through something similar on my own board) and it`s even wors when they reported something that was password protected; it`s likt ehtye knew what they`d find and if they asked for the password then it might have meant that they agreed with the content of that board.. jeez... Liz, don`t just give up, you`ve wrked hard on this board, you made it unique!

Who on earth could report anyone over miscellaneous fan fiction? How stupid is that? Are there any prime suspects? I mean the email should tell you the date it was reported and then it's just a matter of locating who logged in on that day.
Don't give up on the forum.
And baiting the culprit won't do any favours either because it will probably provoke them into reporting again. How about a password change to tighten up things?

Part of the fanfic was owritten by me and the reazon why it was password protected was because the content was a little bit.. err.. hot (to put it lightly). Making it password protected was a good idea since whoeve asked for the password knew what they were getting into and in fact they had agreed so that would make no sense in reporting something you had agreed in reading... I felt it was like some kind of betrayal and I hope to hell the girl that reported it was someone I introduced to this board a while back

A password change would be great, but if I send the password to all members without knowing who did this, then the loser gets the new password too. I banned two possible reporters but one is rarely right in these matters. And you are right, I shouldn't have worded my response quite as I did.

I banned two possible reporters but one is rarely right in these matters. I think the password change would work for the short run. Only dish it out to people you are sure of 100% and carefully monitor the people who ask for it. Also, I think it may have been a premature move to wipe the misc. fic. board. You see, when a person reports a post it is handled by an automated service that emails you with the list of reported items. You have every right to query the report and I'm sure everything would've been okay if you had done so, as it was a password protected board. We are talking about words and someone taking offence to words. If Proboards were so antsy about offensive material being posted then most of this forum would be censored. In the course of writing this I have found a number of erotic fiction sites using Proboards as host and it seems the only no-no is illegal shit (animals, children, etc). I find it very hard to believe someone who is a password holding member of a John Lydon forum would take offence to sexual language. I've lost count of the amount of times I've heard John say the word "cunt" in interviews. The mind boggles. Part of the fanfic was owritten by me and the reazon why it was password protected was because the content was a little bit.. err.. hot (to put it lightly). Okay, now I'm interested. Do you have it on Word or Notepad? I feel like a good pervy read.

You are right it could have been premature, however, after Brenda's board was deleted for offending one woman without her even receiving a warning prior to delete the offensive content, I was a bit panicky to say the least
