I totally copied my own thread from KD, but... >.>
Anyone have a song or band that reminds them of a time when back when or reminds them something of their childhood? Right now, the Black Crowes are doing that for me. The songs Remedey and Thron in my Pride are totally making me feel like a five year old. XD It makes me feel like hugging everyone around me and stuff.
So, how about you guys?

Hearing "Everything I Own" by Bread reminds me of being 14 coz it was the 1st song I ever slow-danced to at a teen party in the neighborhood. (Wow, did I just date myself there...)
Otherwise, can't think of anything else. I've always liked music & have about 1200 vinyl records as I write this & music has always been the background for whatever I happened to be doing.
I remember seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. I was 6 years old & my mom called me into the room just to see the novelty of "boys with long hair." She probably regretted it coz I got hooked on their music right away. I had my dad buy me the 1st 3 Beatles albums as they came out, & they were the 1st 3 albums I owned. Then Dad, like all parents, decided that the Beatles were some kinda Communist plot to poison our youth & wouldn't buy their records any longer. So the 4th album I owned was Glen Campbell's Gentle On My Mind. He had a TV show back then & I was fascinated by the concept of the 12-string guitar.
I still have those records. That's all I remember!

That's awesome. XD The thing about your dad thinking that the Beatles were communists made me laugh.
Another story I have about old songs...
I remember when I was about 5 or 6, and my dad got the album One Hot Minute by Red Hot Chili Peppers. I remember looking at the cover and thinking "What's this? That girl looks creepy. D:" >.> But I remember my dad listening to Aeroplane. Whenever I listened to it, I used to think that Anthony Kiedis was singing "It's my yellow plane". XD

I remember listening to One Hot Minute and Blood Sugar Sex Magik at the age of 13/14 on my cheap little stereo in my bedroom. Those albums take me waaaaaaay back. At that age I was starting to get a little independance and money. I had started babysitting and I actually got my first TV in my room. I saw the Chili Peppers and I haven't looked back since.
I almost choke up a little when I think about it. Very fond memories.

I'm a child of the 90s (go ahead, laugh) so... Hanson and NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees, and Britney Spears of course... whenever I hear them, I just think about summers from ages 9 - 13.
The song "Get Freaky" by Play-n-Skillz & Pitbull reminds me of my prom (lol) because we requested that song right when we got there and I danced to it on stage.
A lot of songs remind me of things. I associate all music with some type of memory. hmmm

Those bands you mentioned do bring back memories, some of which I really don't want to be reminded, I might have been a bit obsessed with Spice Girls. I actually remembered a song which makes me really nostalgic (am I allowed to used that word yet? XD) the Rednex (sp?)-wish you were here, my first attempt at trying to sing in english.

Oh wow I forgot about the Spice Girls. I was never super into them cause I played soccer hardcore on a boys team and showing up giggling about the Spice Girls would not have made it easier. What I just thought of was: "Crash and Burn" by Savage Garden. That reminds me of a LOT of memories from my junior year of high school.... awwww... good times.

Well gotta admit that I still love a lot of the music from the '80s and many songs bring me back to a time and place. Saw a few bands back then. INXS was great. Loved Michael Hutchense the singer so much. He was so good looking and original and sexy and charismatic. (The drummer was too). This was the only concert I ever attended where a couple women fainted dead away when the singer got into it!!! And the things they flung towards the stage! This song takes me right back: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSgV4WIykUYIt's going to be 10 years since he died. I cannot believe it. RIP Michael.

This is an odd one (but by now we all know I'm odd ) The first album I ever bought..at K-mart no less, was the soundtrack to the Muppet Movie. There is a song on it called "going to go back there someday". Around that time my family moved and I had to leave all my friends. I used to sing along to that song when I would get sad. Now it just reminds me of being young. Comfortably Numb and Violent Femmes remind me of college days.

I'm also a child of the 90s, so Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears etc. all these music reminds me my childhood, but if I have to choose a song, that would be "Just my imagination" from the Cranberries, my older brother was a big fan of them so that´s why I got into them, and here goes the memory, it was my twelfth or thirteenth birthday party I think and my brother played that song because he knew, everybody knew of my like for that song, it was great coz everyone were singing along, even though most of them didn´t know the lyrics!! so they were, like we say here in my country, just "whashawasheando"

I remember hearing a God-awful remake of Relight My Fire, a late '70s hit from Harrisburg PA's own Dan Hartman. Was that done by this band? Do you mean this one? www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWPUespcblUThe video makes it even worse... Take That were also experts in dancing under pouring water: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMSUnEOPY5I AND www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4xzLB5bXdIThey look pretty sleazy in that horrible picture I posted but one of them later changed his hairstyle and wore some kind of dreadlocks, and looked a bit better. Still can't understand how this band could have made a comeback (WITHOUT Robbie)... New Kids on the Block were also a popular boyband, but I don't remember them that much (I just know that one of those guys was Marky Mark Wahlberg's brother)... Girls would always go crazy for those boybands - I always thought I was never hit by this madness and then I found this Backstreet Boys best of album in the shop, when I was searching through the CDs and I KNEW all of those songs I threw it away and quickly sneaked out-hope none of my friends saw me with it
