Here's one 10 years later from Finland. John's in fine form - this interviewer seems like she doesn't get a lot of what he's saying, but he doesn't stop. Love when he says that like a fine wine he's improved with age, that there was no punk movement - just the Sex Pistols, nobody else counts!!!!

I think it is clear she was very taken with him but who wouldn't be.....not sure about Johnny....he was actually pretty friendly and patient with her so that could mean in the day a certain amount of flirting

What I have always liked about the Grundy interview is the part where John is made to repeat "shit"........he looks like a kid made to confess to breaking a vase.....just ADORABLE

I love that Glen mentions this interview in his book and how the rest of the band was cut out of it practically. I do think glen was jeleaouse of John (and at that age who wouldn't be jeleaouse of each other?) I also like how Steve gets bored a hops up to leave.

But what kills me is when the guys (In the Part 7 of this series) kid him about still living in finsbury Park with his mum. John just brushes them off saying "I don't live in finsbury Park" without even glancing at them!

I KNOW that was adorable, love how he says Finsbury Park....and sexy. I love the parts where he smiles too.......one of my favorites is where he is asked about reaction when he first starting singing and he says jokingly "oh they LOVED me, threw flowers"... ....he looked so good there. It made my hands hurt though the way he kept picking at the skin around his fingernails with those clippers.....OUCH JOHNNNY

It's true. John monopolized this interview. John also cut off Glen mid-sentence and Glen kept quiet after that.

It's the part where they're talking about other bands of the day. Glen mentions a particular one, and John turns toward Glen for a quick second, looks back at Janet, and cuts Glen off by saying something like "but they're just rhythm and blues, and what's the use of that, mahn" (like how a hippie might pronounce "man"!)

Speaking of one of young John's favorite topics, hippies, it's hysterical when she asks him, what's this thing you got against hippies John, and he says "they're complacent."

I agree that Glen was jealous of all the attention John got and this led to Glen's exit (a point yours truly brings up in the Poll under the Glen section of this board which poses the question of why we think Glen quit/was fired/or mutually decided to leave). So for anyone reading this, if you haven't yet, please vote vote vote!!!

Shameless plug for the Glen poll, I know it, but I just can't help it!

awww I have seen these so many times but I just can't stop watching them! he is so adorable in the punk 2 one, when he says "I don't have any heroes, they're all useless" in that sad voice and it just makes me want to hug him!
And I love this one when he says he'd make a good politician xD.
